Huawei is back on the list of top three premium smartphone makers

-

According to Counterpoint’s research, Huawei is now back as the third premium smartphone maker worldwide. This is amazing news for the brand considering all the challenges they are currently facing in the global smartphone industry. Huawei was also part of the few smartphone OMEs on the list that saw growth in 2023 despite uncertainty in the market.

Other brands on Counterpoint’s list of the top smartphone OEMs in the premium market are Apple and Samsung. On the top five list, the other smartphone brands are Xiaomi and OPPO. Leading the premium smartphone market globally is Apple, with its control of 71% of the market in 2023.

Huawei Mate 50 Pro

Samsung follows closely with control of 17% of the premium smartphone market in 2023. Huawei came in third place with 5% of the premium smartphone market to its name last year. Xiaomi tags along at fourth place, controlling 2% of the premium smartphone market globally in the year 2023.

In fourth place is OPPO, and it closed the year with 1% control of the premium smartphone market. Huawei’s growth last year can be attributed to the Mate 60 series the brand launched which is a global stunner. This is impressive because this flagship device isn’t available to the global audience, yet it still contributed to Huawei’s growth.

In comparison with the 2022 top smartphone OEMs report by Counterpoint, Huawei, Samsung, and Xiaomi saw major growth last year. Apple lost its grip on the market despite still leading the pack of smartphone premium OEMs. This year, we will look out to see how these five brands perform in the premium smartphone market.
