The Rakuten Viber team conducted a large-scale survey to understand how actively Ukrainians are incorporating artificial intelligence into their daily lives, what tasks they use it for, and which tools they find most convenient. Among more than 6,000 respondents, 58% reported already using AI. However, some participants admitted they are hesitant to use such tools due to concerns about security or perceived limited usefulness of the results.
The most popular AI tools among Ukrainians are ChatGPT, known to 85% of survey participants, and Gemini, recognized by 64%. Microsoft Copilot ranked third at 20%. Smaller shares of respondents mentioned Midjourney (11%), Claude (8%), DALL-E (7%), and Perplexity AI (5%). Eight percent selected “Other services,” while 3% admitted they hadn’t heard of any of the listed tools.

Most respondents already have experience with artificial intelligence. Fifty-eight percent reported using AI, with 25% doing so regularly and 33% occasionally. Meanwhile, 21% have never tried any AI tool, and 12% said they don’t even know what it is. Another 9% indicated they have used AI in the past but currently avoid these services.
The team also asked Ukrainians who don’t use AI what prevents them from doing so. Those who have tried AI tools but no longer use them gave the following reasons:

- I don’t know how it works – 16%
- It was difficult to use – 11%
- They didn’t answer my questions – 11%
- Other – 13%.

Among those who have never used AI, the most common reason was “I’m fine without it,” cited by 43%. Another 25% said they haven’t had the opportunity, and 23% aren’t sure why they would need it. Seventeen percent don’t understand how the tools work, while 16% don’t want to spend money on such solutions. Additionally, 14% don’t know which tools are available or where to find them, and 5% don’t even know how to register.
Respondents who use AI most often use it for the following purposes (multiple choices were possible):
- To search for information – 81%
- For work – 37%
- For learning – 35%
- For ideas and inspiration – 31%
- For medical advice – 27%

It allows users to quickly turn large volumes of unread messages into a concise summary highlighting the main points. Users most often use this feature in group chats with family or friends (51%), in work discussions (45%), and in school chats (30%). Among the main benefits cited by Ukrainians are the ability to:
