Google has reportedly postponed the launch of the first beta version of Android 17 indefinitely, although the release was expected today. Earlier, the company confirmed on the official subreddit that the update is “on the way”, but did not name the exact launch time. Now it has become known that the schedule has changed, and a new date has not yet been announced.

According to the available information, Android 17 beta 1 has already been tested internally and was supposed to bring noticeable changes in the interface design. On February 10, Google announced that the release would take place soon, and it was expected that it could appear on February 11. However, it seems that the company has encountered some difficulties. A Google spokesperson told Android Authority that the beta version “will be released soon, but not today.”

Even before the official announcement, some in the community doubted the imminent launch of Android 17 beta 1, as Android 16 QPR3 usually leaves a short gap between update cycles. Some users speculated that February 18 or even February 23 might be a more realistic date, as Google often releases major updates on Monday or Wednesday.

Owners of compatible Pixel smartphones will have to wait longer than expected. Since the company did not name new dates, it is unclear when exactly the Android 17 beta 1 testing will become available and what caused the delay.
