New renders of the iPhone 17e have been posted online, showing possible design changes and key features of the upcoming model. According to a leak from FrontPageTech, Apple may unveil the device earlier than usual, with the announcement allegedly planned in a press release format as early as the end of this month. This may indicate the company’s increased focus on the relatively affordable premium smartphone segment.
According to the source, the iPhone 17e may abandon the classic notch in favor of the Dynamic Island, which will bring its appearance closer to the older models in the lineup. A 6.1-inch display is expected, but the refresh rate is likely to remain at 60 Hz, which will be one of the positioning compromises.
The model is apparently aimed at users who want a relatively affordable entry into the iOS ecosystem, especially in markets with a strong mid-range segment. An updated 18MP front-facing camera with Center Stage feature is also reported to improve video calling and content creation.
The main camera is expected to remain a single 48MP shooter with Fusion technology, and the improvement in image quality is expected to be achieved mainly through image processing by a new processor, rather than significant changes in the sensor. The design of the back panel will be almost the same as the previous generation.
Inside, the smartphone may get an A19 processor in a simplified configuration along with 8 GB of RAM, which will support Apple Intelligence functions. The new C1X chip is likely to be responsible for networking capabilities, and MagSafe charging support may appear for the first time in this series.
The starting price is rumored to be around $599, which is in line with the positioning of its predecessor. Black and White are expected to be the basic colors, and Lavender is also being considered.
