The Ukrainian IT company MacPaw won the prestigious Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2026. The top prize went to Moonlock – the company’s own cybersecurity solution designed to reliably protect Mac owners from various viruses and the latest digital threats. The Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design is internationally recognized as the benchmark for design excellence, awarded for compelling concepts, exceptional craftsmanship, and a significant impact on the industry and user experience.

Moonlock

Since its official launch in October 2025, Moonlock has demonstrated a radically new approach to digital security. In creating this product, the MacPaw team sought to develop a tool that would guarantee a high level of security for Mac owners while remaining completely understandable and intuitive for everyone, regardless of their technical background. For this reason, the creators of Moonlock avoided the complex technical jargon typical of most similar programs, opting instead for an interface that’s as clear as possible and a friendly, caring approach to communicating with users.

MacPaw’s design philosophy has remained consistent for many years and is based on creating software products that are as convenient and easy to use as possible in everyday life. The company pays exceptional attention to every detail of the interface and all aspects that shape the overall experience of using the app, and Moonlock fully meets these high standards.

As Oleg Stukalenko, Head of Product Management at Moonlock, notes, the field of cybersecurity is often perceived as overly complex and intimidating due to intrusive alerts, technical jargon, and the misconception that in-depth professional knowledge is essential for online security. According to him, Moonlock was created precisely to break this stereotype. From the very beginning, the developers sought to make the app as human-centered and user-friendly as possible, transforming cybersecurity into a natural part of daily life without causing unnecessary anxiety – of which there’s already plenty. Since MacPaw views design as the entire spectrum of human interaction with an app – and not just as a pretty screen layout – the Red Dot jury’s decision confirms that the company is on the right track and is an incredibly gratifying recognition for the entire team.

This year’s Red Dot award marks the fourth such recognition in MacPaw’s portfolio. The company won its first trophy in 2017 with Gemini 2, which was the first macOS app to receive this award. Later, in 2021, CleanMyMac took the prize, and in 2024, CleanMyPhone repeated the success.
