In 2026, only a handful of manufacturers are attempting to challenge the monopoly of generic black rectangular cases, and RugOne is among them. This brand is a division of RugOne, which is owned by Ulefon – a company that has been producing rugged devices for several years in a row. Its latest model, the Xsnap 7 Pro, stands out for its enhanced damage resistance and features a magnetic, detachable camera module that functions like an action camera.

The camera module itself is roughly cube-shaped, weighs 39 g, and is capable of recording video at a resolution of up to 2.7K at 30 fps, so it is not yet ready to fully compete with the latest GoPro models.

According to RugOne, the module’s battery provides up to 40 minutes of continuous operation on a full charge, and it has 64 GB of built-in storage. The module can stream a live preview to the proprietary RugOne companion app at a distance of up to 50 m. In addition, the developers have included a number of software options, including distortion correction, horizon locking, and Freeframe mode, which utilizes the full area of the sensor, allowing you to crop the footage to a vertical or horizontal format as needed.

The camera remains watertight at depths of up to 5 m without the need for any additional protective cases. For convenience in securing the device to your body while filming, RugOne includes a special magnetic pendant in the kit, and the module itself is also compatible with a variety of third-party accessories thanks to its universal mounting system.

In addition, the Xsnap 7 Pro is equipped with a 50-megapixel main “AI camera” with optical image stabilization, as well as a 64-megapixel infrared night vision module with IR LEDs. The latter is designed to capture sharp black-and-white wildlife images after dark.

At the same time, it’s important to remember that this is, first and foremost, a phone. The Xsnap 7 Pro featuresa 6.67-inch display with a peak brightness of 1,700 nits and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Inside is a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chipset, and the device itself offers a high level of protection. It is certified to IP68 and IP69K standards, capable of withstanding submersion in water up to 2 meters for 30 minutes and a drop onto a concrete surface from a height of 1.5 meters.

The company showcased the initial prototype several months ago at MWC 2026, but the official launch of the Xsnap 7 Pro took place at IFA. Pre-orders for early adopters will begin on Kickstarter on September 7 at a discounted price of €799 (approximately $930). The smartphone will go on sale worldwide on Amazon and in RugOne’s official online store next month for $999 in Sand Dune and Classic Black color options.
