In an effort to increase the number of users of its smart eyewear, Meta is implementing a new, bold strategy that involves lowering prices and creating its own private label brand. The company has announced the launch of Meta Glasses – a brand-new line of smart glasses without integrated displays, developed in close collaboration with the renowned eyewear manufacturer EssilorLuxottica.
The starting price for the new models is $299, making them $80 cheaper than the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta devices that debuted last year. This price reduction is a clear move aimed at lowering the financial barrier for potential buyers, as Meta continues to pour significant investment into the development of AI-powered wearable hardware.

The debut series consists of three distinctive frame designs. The model named Adventurer features a classic square shape and is available in two sizes, while the Fury model stands out with a more robust and heavier frame. Both versions are priced at a base of $299. The third model, called Starfire, was created in collaboration with Kylie Jenner; it has a sleek oval silhouette and comes with a higher price tag of $399. In total, consumers have access to 26 different configuration options that combine black, green, and tortoiseshell colors with various lens types, including polarized, photochromic, and prescription lenses. As for design updates, Meta has integrated three-way adjustable nose pads, a useful practical solution for optimizing the device’s fit to the individual characteristics of different faces.

From a technical standpoint, the devices’ internal components almost entirely replicate the capabilities of Meta’s current smart glasses platform. The lenses do not contain display panels. Instead, functionality is provided by built-in cameras, open-ear speakers, and a multi-microphone system responsible for making phone calls, suppressing wind noise, and recognizing voice commands. The battery is rated for up to 8 hours of continuous use, and a special foldable charging case provides an additional 40 hours of battery life.

The glasses come with Muse Spark – the latest multimodal AI model designed by Meta. Users can activate the virtual assistant using a dedicated physical button to ask questions about objects in their field of view, perform real-time simultaneous translation of conversations – now expanded to include 14 new languages – or create media files. In addition, Meta is introducing a dynamic burst mode to help users take higher-quality photos hands-free, and plans to launch a turn-by-turn pedestrian audio navigation feature in the near future.
