The new POCO F9 series will be released on September 1, and the line’s top model, the POCO F9 Ultra, continues to enhance the premium flagship experience with an even greater focus on gaming. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform with VisionBoost D8, WildBoost Optimization, and LiquidCool Technology, which ensure consistent performance. Combined with an AMOLED display featuring a 185 Hz refresh rate, the system allows for gameplay at speeds of up to 185 FPS.

A high-capacity battery with support for HyperCharge fast wired and wireless charging promises long battery life, while the 200 MP main camera and 50 MP periscope telephoto camera will deliver high-quality, vibrant photos. Therefore, the POCO F9 Ultra isn’t focused exclusively on gaming but also covers other forms of entertainment and use cases.

The POCO F9 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform in combination with VisionBoost D8. For demanding workloads, the smartphone is equipped with a powerful LiquidCool cooling system featuring an LHP area of 6,300 mm², a graphite coating covering 17,820 mm², and a raised 3D structure above the chipset. According to POCO’s lab, this design can reduce the chip’s temperature by 3°C.

WildBoost Optimization focuses on the target frame rate and gaming scenarios, reduces frame rate drops, manages temperature in real time, and balances power consumption. The flagship platform delivers computing power, while cooling and optimization maintain performance under heavy loads.

The F9 series supports native gaming at 185 FPS in 24 games, while some popular games can run at 165 FPS. The series’ smartphones also support a touch sampling rate of up to 480 Hz across ten touch points and an instant touch sampling rate of up to 4,800 Hz. These features can be enabled in the corresponding Game Turbo mode.

One of the major upgrades in the POCO F9 Ultra is its 8,050 mAh battery; the previous generation, the POCO F8 Ultra, had a 6,500 mAh battery. More importantly, it’s a silicon-carbon battery with a 16% silicon content and an energy density of 809 Wh/L.

High-frame-rate gaming, video recording, mobile connectivity, and a bright display all require power. The 8,050 mAh battery provides more capacity for these scenarios and lets you enjoy all the device’s features for longer. The POCO F9 Ultra supports 100 W HyperCharge wired charging and 50 W HyperCharge wireless charging.

The POCO F9 Ultra features a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 185 Hz, and it is the world’s first smartphone to use the M11 panel. According to official data, this panel uses a next-generation material that increases luminous efficiency by 20%. Maximum brightness in various scenarios reaches 4,500 nits at 25% APL (Average Picture Level), and local peak brightness reaches up to 10,000 nits at 1% APL. As a result, the display combines a higher refresh rate with increased brightness and efficiency.

In supported games, the 185 Hz refresh rate allows visual content to be displayed at a higher frame rate. It also improves the overall user experience when scrolling, viewing interface animations, and interacting with high-refresh-rate content.

The POCO F9 Ultra features Sound by Bose: two symmetrical 1115D speakers and a dedicated 1620 subwoofer form a 2.1-channel audio system. In FPS games, footsteps, gunshots, and spatial audio cues can provide a direct advantage during gameplay, while watching movies or listening to music delivers a wider soundstage, deeper bass, and more consistent audio quality.

POCO F9 Ultra

The POCO F9 Ultra features a 200 MP main camera with OIS, a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x zoom and OIS, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 32 MP front-facing camera. The periscope telephoto camera also supports 10x lossless zoom, portrait mode, macro photography, and 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.

POCO F9 Ultra

Thus, the POCO F9 Ultra doesn’t sacrifice other features for the sake of gaming. While mobile gaming is its strong suit, the manufacturer hasn’t compromised on the display, battery life, audio capabilities, or camera performance.

During POCO’s global launch event, which will take place on September 1 at 3:00 PM Kyiv time (8:00 PM, GMT+8), the key question will be not only how much the POCO F9 Ultra will cost, but also how POCO will apply its established strategy of competitive pricing to the Ultra version. If the final price stays true to POCO’s approach of offering a great balance of features and value, the flagship model will appeal to a much wider audience.
