Mykhailo Vysotsky, a Ukrainian physicist, associate professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and science communicator, reported that during the massive missile attack carried out by russia on the night of July 2, he completely lost his home, all his belongings, documents, and his scientific archive accumulated over many years.

The scientist spoke about the tragedy in a video message titled “The End,” which is the first video on his YouTube channel not dedicated to scientific topics. According to Vysotsky, a russian missile destroyed the apartment where his family lived, as well as his parents’ apartment in the same building.

The missile strike destroyed documents, bank cards, cell phones, electronics, savings, and the family archive, which had been collected over more than a century. In addition, the scientific archives of Vysotsky himself and his father were destroyed. “We have absolutely nothing left. We lost everything we had in an instant,” the scientist admitted.
Later, he posted a video showing what the building’s entrance and his apartment look like now.
Mykhailo Vysotsky also reported that he is currently unable to work on his YouTube channel, where he had been posting free lectures on physics, astrophysics, quantum mechanics, and other natural sciences. “My whole life has been destroyed. I have practically nothing left except the clothes on my back. The channel will likely have to shut down. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to recover,” Vysotsky said. The scientist has launched a fundraiser through Monobank to begin rebuilding after losing his home.
As a reminder, we previously reported that a rocket attack on the Kyiv region destroyed the central warehouse of Denka Logistics, the logistics partner of the Ukrainian publishing house BookChef. Most of the print run – approximately 800,000 books – was lost.

According to the latest data, 30 people were killed and another 92 were injured as a result of the massive russian attack on the capital; rescue operations are ongoing. July 3 was declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv.
