Not wanting to be left out of the foldable device market trend following today’s announcement of the iPhone Duo, Motorola has released a teaser for a new model in the Razr series. Judging by the video the company shared on social media, the next model in the Razr lineup will not feature a clamshell design with a vertical hinge, but rather a compact book-style form factor.
After many years of watching manufacturers refine the concept of the foldable phone, Apple has finally come up with a true counterpart – the iPhone Duo. In many ways, it resembles the original Pixel Fold, but the software appears to be the main selling point, offering a host of features and functions that demonstrate the viability of an iOS-based foldable device.
A short video in the Instagram Reel format showcases the evolution of the numerous Razr models that have appeared over the past 22 years. The final element of this timeline is the silhouette of the phone’s body with its distinct geometric contours. The new model is noticeably bulkier and sturdier than previous generations, yet it retains the familiar hinge design, abandoning the vertical folding mechanism that was once the hallmark of the Razr line.
This year has seen a noticeable rise in the popularity of wider screens, as the Samsung Galaxy Fold 8 and iPhone Duo models have also featured larger display proportions. The company has not yet revealed the device’s name, an estimated release date, or detailed technical specifications, so we can expect more details from Motorola in the near future.
Throughout this year, Motorola has been making significant efforts to strengthen its position in the foldable phone segment. In addition to the three classic clamshell devices in the Razr lineup, the company has also announced its first full-size model, the Motorola Razr Fold.
