Nubia has officially announced the NaviX Ultra, which it is positioning as the world’s first smartphone with a full-fledged AI agent. The device was unveiled at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) in Shanghai, a few days after the first teasers and the initial announcement at the same event.

The Nubia NaviX Ultra is powered by the Doubao mobile assistant. As Ni Fei, senior vice president of ZTE Corporation and president of Nubia, noted in a comment to the CLS news agency, Doubao provides the powerful capabilities of a large language model and intelligent agents, while Nubia brings deep expertise in hardware development, software, and product engineering. He emphasized that the journey from the M153 to the NaviX Ultra marks the completion of a cycle of technological testing and product refinement through the collaboration between the two companies.
Nubia will launch the smartphone in four colors: Blue, Dream, Obsidian Black, and Snowfield. The Dream variant features a solid pink finish across the entire body, including the rear camera module.
The camera module itself also stands out with its unconventional design. Instead of the round island typical of most competitors, Nubia has used a horizontal strip on the back panel to house the triple-camera system, which includes a periscope telephoto module. On the front panel, there is a single central front-facing camera located in the notch of a flat display with uniform bezels on all four sides.
On the side of the device is a dedicated orange AI button that instantly launches the smart assistant. During the smartphone’s development, Nubia focused on four key principles: understanding, functionality, data protection, and security.
The smartphone is capable of understanding natural language in a variety of situations and independently performing multi-step tasks – such as comparing prices, placing orders, or planning trips – by interacting with various apps. Nubia emphasizes that all core AI processing takes place directly on the device rather than in the cloud, which, combined with official certifications in the field of generative AI, reduces the risk of personal data leaks.
Nubia has not yet disclosed the price or launch date for the NaviX Ultra.
