NVIDIA reaffirms that Shield TV owners have made the right choice. The company has released a new update, Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2.4, which is available for download. In addition to the latest security patches, the update fixes issues with device sleep, Disney Plus playback, and other technical issues.
The situation on the Android TV and Google TV market in 2026 looks rather modest. While devices like the Google TV Streamer or Walmart’s budget-friendly Onn 4K Pro are available, the selection of high-quality “app” Android for TVs is limited. This makes older devices that continue to receive support especially valuable. The most prominent example is the NVIDIA Shield TV and Shield TV Pro. In anticipation of a possible new version of Shield TV, NVIDIA is introducing an update to its trusted hardware.

Shield Experience Upgrade 9.2.4 doesn’t add any major new features, as it is a point update, but the company notes several important fixes. In particular, in the new build:
- security patches have been updated to January 2026
- the problem with Disney Plus playback was fixed
- fixes a bug when connecting a third-party Xbox remote after entering sleep mode
- Fixed an issue where Shield and devices with CEC turned on by themselves during sleep
- Fixed frequent disconnection of third-party Bluetooth remotes
- Fixed closing of the settings page when NVIDIA Share is activated over it.
NVIDIA has been battling Disney Plus issues for some time now, and the previous 9.2.2 update fixed another glitch. Users’ hopes that 9.2.4 will finally stabilize the service are well founded.

According to user feedback on Reddit, the bugs while the device was sleeping were particularly annoying, and Shield TV owners hope that this update will finally eliminate them, especially for devices with CEC connections, such as a TV.
