Sony has officially unveiled two new Bluetooth vinyl record players, which are the long-awaited successors to the popular PS-LX310BT. After a pause of almost 7 years, the company is returning to the wireless turntable segment with the PS-LX3BT and PS-LX5BT models, focusing on minimalist design, automation and improved sound quality.

Both devices feature a fully automatic design and use the same proven mechanism as its predecessor, the LX310BT. At the same time, Sony reports that the body and internal layout have been redesigned to achieve optimal performance and reduce vibrations.

The new products are equipped with a built-in phono preamp with three-level gain control, which simplifies integration with various audio systems. According to Sony, the phono preamp circuit is based on the PS-LX310BT solution, but has improved carbon resistors and an updated grounding system, which has a positive effect on signal purity.
Users have switches for selecting the size of 7 and 12-inch platters, as well as 33⅓ or 45 rpm rotation speed. An adapter for 45 rpm records is included. Both models feature an aluminum tonearm with a precision bearing, a cast aluminum platter, and a rubber mat for a stable grip on the record.

The PS-LX3BT is equipped with a 3.5 g moving magnet cartridge, while the PS-LX5BT has an advanced MM head with a 2.0 g clamping force. Sony did not disclose the exact names of the installed cartridges, but confirmed that the needles in both models are replaceable. The cartridge in the PS-LX5BT is also replaceable, but only with an identical model through the company’s official service support.
Another difference is the connection system. The PS-LX3BT has a built-in audio cable that comes directly from the phono preamp. The PS-LX5BT is equipped with a separate output that allows you to use both the bundled Sony cable and third-party solutions.

In terms of wireless capabilities, both players support the aptX Adaptive standard for streaming high-resolution audio to compatible Bluetooth speakers and headphones. There is also the ability to store up to 8 connected devices for quick switching.

The Sony PS-LX3BT is available for sale for €350. The older model PS-LX5BT costs €460. Both new products are already available for purchase in key markets.
