Sony has launched an unusual initiative called The Playerbase, which involves scanning people’s appearance and then integrating their images into PlayStation games. The idea seems rather strange, but at the same time, it may be interesting for those who have long wanted to see themselves in the form of a digital character, even if it is a kind of humanoid version of a Crash Bandicoot-like character.
The project is developing gradually. At this stage, Sony has announced a contest, the winner of which will have the opportunity to appear in Gran Turismo 7, albeit in a limited format. The selected participant will be able to add his or her photo as a character portrait in the game, and will also be able to create his or her own logo and car exterior design. One of the participants named Sara has already made it to Gran Turismo 7.

In addition, the winner will get a trip to Los Angeles to undergo a full body scan. At the same time, Sony does not specify how this data will be used in the future, as Gran Turismo 7 is a racing game that does not have full-fledged character models.
To get a chance to participate, players will have to go through several stages of selection. In addition to the standard application, there are video interviews and other procedures. The program is available for users from America, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia.

At the same time, the question remains as to the feasibility of such an initiative, as the integration of real people requires new PlayStation games, and Sony does not currently demonstrate a particularly rich lineup of its own projects in this generation.
