TCL has introduced a new monitor with a 4K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate, housed in an ultra-thin body. The thickness of the OLED panel is only 6.4 mm. In addition, the manufacturer has also announced the world’s first Mini LED monitor with a refresh rate of 1040 Hz.

Gaming monitors in recent years have mostly followed the distinctive backlit design and aggressive RGB aesthetic. However, TCL’s new flagship model looks much more restrained. Its style resembles not a typical gaming display, but rather a new version of Apple‘s Apple Studio Display. At the same time, the device combines almost all the features that are usually expected from premium monitors in a body that is only 3.5 cm thick.

The model, called 32X3A, has a 31.5-inch panel with switchable modes. In the standard mode, the display operates in 4K at 240 Hz, but also supports an alternative 480 Hz option at a lower resolution, probably 1080p. The gray scale response time of the matrix is 0.03 ms. According to ITHome, the OLED panel covers 99% of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color spaces. For comfortable use in well-lit rooms, an anti-glare and anti-reflective coating is provided. In addition, TCL claims that the special arrangement of pixels in the matrix improves the readability of text on the screen.

To distinguish the device from most gaming displays, the company has relied on an ultra-thin and laconic design. The panel itself is only 6.4 mm thick. Together with the stand, the monitor is approximately 3.58 cm thick, which is about 40 mm thicker than the new Studio Display that Apple introduced earlier this week. The base of the stand is also made in a restrained style and is 2.1 cm thick. The total weight of the monitor with the stand is 10.7 kg.

Although the model avoids the typical bright RGB gaming style, there are still elements of decorative lighting. There is an atmospheric RGB backlight on the rear panel, which is visible through the reflection on the metal rear cover. The speaker system for the monitor was developed by Bang & Olufsen. The speakers are integrated into the bottom of the stand.

Despite the ultra-thin design, TCL has not abandoned the full set of modern connection ports that are usually expected from top gaming monitors. The device is equipped with 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 2.1, 2 USB-A ports, one USB-B, and a USB-C port that supports 90W charging.

The 32X3A is currently available in China via online retailer JD.com for $870. It is not yet known whether the company plans to launch this model on the global market, although this possibility seems quite real. At the same time, it is difficult to predict the potential cost of the device.

Along with the 32X3A, TCL presented 2 more high-end gaming monitors with a more traditional design. The 27C3A Pro model is equipped with a QD-Mini LED panel and supports switching between 4K at 165 Hz and 1080p at 320 Hz. The display supports HDR 1400 and is capable of reaching brightness of up to 2,0 nits. Its price is approximately $465.

Another novelty is the 27P2A Ultra, which is positioned as the world’s first Mini LED monitor with a refresh rate of 1040 Hz. This model has an AI-based brightness control system and a claimed response time of 0.1 ms.
