The seven-seat Škoda Peaq crossover set a new range record among electric vehicles in its class, traveling 936 km without stopping to recharge.
The idea for this experiment came from two Škoda employees – Marek Jež and Jakub Krs. They decided to test the maximum distance the new seven-seat Škoda Peaq electric vehicle could cover on a single charge from its 91 kWh battery. To do this, the testers set out from Mladá Boleslav heading toward the Netherlands. The production version of the Škoda Peaq covered 936 km without recharging. The achievement was recorded under the supervision of experts from the TÜV SÜD certification institute. According to Jakub Krsa, who is responsible for the development strategy of high-voltage battery packs at Škoda and served as one of the drivers, the team’s goal was to demonstrate the limits of what modern technology can achieve. To achieve the best possible result, the specialists carefully planned the optimal route and significantly adjusted their driving styles.
His colleague Marek Jež, who heads the Peaq model series and served as the second driver during the run, noted that ordinary owners are unlikely to drive in a similar manner every day. Instead, drivers will be able to fully enjoy the Peaq’s other advantages – its dynamic performance, multimedia features, and high level of comfort.
According to the WLTP test cycle, which covers a standard range of driving conditions required by law, the Škoda Peaq 90 has a rated range of up to 647 km. The final result for the seven-seater version of the Peaq – 936 km – exceeded this certified figure by 289 km, representing an increase of nearly 45%.
The record-breaking run was conducted using a production Škoda Peaq 90 equipped with a 91 kWh battery pack (of which 86 kWh is usable capacity), a 210-kW electric motor, rear-wheel drive, and 19-inch wheels with standard low-rolling-resistance tires. Thanks to the meticulously engineered aerodynamics of the Peaq model range, the drag coefficient (Cd) is 0.249.
The largest and most spacious crossover in the Škoda lineup set off on its record-breaking journey from the brand’s headquarters in Mladá Boleslav on Tuesday, August 25, at 12:00 p.m. The crew drove through Germany, making brief stops to switch drivers, take short breaks, and grab a snack. Early Wednesday morning, the team entered the Netherlands, and by the end of the day, they had reached the final destination of their journey – the resort town of Zandvoort on the North Sea coast.
Without any additional battery charging, the seven-seat Škoda Peaq covered 936 km, demonstrating an average energy consumption of just 9.2 kWh per 100 km.
Production of the Škoda Peaq has been established at Škoda’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav. This model debuted with a number of technological innovations new to the brand, including recessed door handles, a panoramic glass roof with Dynamic Shade Control, and a bidirectional charging system.
Škoda’s new flagship model has proven highly popular among buyers: the company has already received over 10,000 pre-orders.
