In anticipation of the official release of its upcoming X Fold 6 on the Chinese market, vivo has started to reveal the first details about this device. The company’s management positions the model not just as another foldable smartphone but emphasizes AI-driven performance and the ability to interact with a large display. Recent promotional materials and statements from top management allow us to understand more clearly how the developers plan to surprise users.
According to vivo, the upcoming X Fold 6 will be launched with the proprietary OriginOS 6 Fold shell, as well as a significantly modernized Atomic Workbench tool, which debuted in the previous generation X Fold 5. Instead of treating the flexible panel as a regular but enlarged phone screen, vivo aims to implement the software in such a way that it helps to efficiently perform complex tasks involving several programs at the same time.
The updated Atomic Workbench platform should provide an improved interaction experience in the “one screen – five uses” format. Vivo assures that the user interface now offers more usable space, improved display split options, and smoother multitasking when running multiple programs simultaneously. In addition, the company has intrigued us with the emergence of a completely new Workbench mode, although its detailed features are currently being kept secret.
Smartphone owners will be able to create personalized workspaces for specific scenarios, such as holding meetings, organizing travel, shopping, or managing investments. Such zones allow combining a group of applications into a single environment and reopening them with just one click. Representatives of vivo emphasize that this solution will eliminate the need to constantly switch between different windows when performing complex tasks.
The manufacturer also confirmed the integration of an updated AI-based virtual assistant, improvement of local AI algorithms directly on the device, and introduction of new control methods. The software component has undergone deep optimization at the system level, which has had a positive impact on task scheduling, CPU resource allocation, and overall speed in multitasking. This will allow various AI applications and tools to function more smoothly and without any delays.
The official launch of vivo X Fold 6 in China is expected to take place at the end of this month, while the global announcement may take place next month. If rumors are to be believed, the hardware of the new product will include a Dimensity 9500 processor, a 6900 mAh battery, and a three-camera system consisting of a 200 megapixel main sensor, a 50 megapixel ultra-wide-angle module, and a 50 megapixel periscope lens. A fingerprint scanner is planned to be placed on the side edge, while the rest of the technical specifications remain unknown.
