Xiaomi is temporarily suspending the distribution of HyperOS updates for all smartphones in preparation for the main annual holiday in China. The company is actually taking a break from software updates due to the traditional seasonal slowdown during the Chinese New Year celebrations.
According to XiaomiTime, the manufacturer is entering an approximately 2-week slowdown mode that will last from February 17 to March 3. During this period, no new versions of HyperOS are planned to be launched, and work on internal test builds will also be temporarily suspended.

This means that users should not expect any new features or bug fixes in the near future. The source also reports that the usual bug reports and regular summaries of development progress will stop being published during the pause.
According to XiaomiTime, the slowdown process has actually already begun internally. The company reportedly began to wind down active development a few days ago, and the creation of test builds was mostly suspended about 4 or 5 days ago. The updates that can still reach users now were built much earlier, before the holiday mode was introduced.

This practice is not unique to Xiaomi. While such long breaks may look unusual in Europe or the United States, in China, the celebration of the Lunar New Year has a large-scale cultural significance. During this time, many companies in various industries temporarily slow down or completely suspend some operations so that employees can return home and spend time with their families. For a significant number of employees, this is actually the only long vacation they get during the year.

Xiaomi is no exception. Other major Chinese smartphone manufacturers, including OPPO, vivo, and OnePlus, also follow a similar schedule during this holiday period, slowing down development and pausing secondary processes.
