German company Crunchy Leaf Games has announced a partnership with Kyiv-based indie studio Twigames to publish Hollow Home, an isometric narrative survival role-playing game. It will be available on PC via Steam and is scheduled for release in 2026.
Hollow Home revolves around 14-year-old Maxim, who is trying to survive the first weeks of a full-scale Russian invasion. The game has no combat system and no real violence, as the developers wanted to show the consequences of the war rather than graphic details. Therefore, the gameplay relies on dialogues and various quest lines that help to reveal the history of the city, which is gradually becoming a shadow.

Players will have to explore the city, look for the necessary resources, help the characters, and make difficult decisions. During the quests, Max will learn survival skills, cooking, medical care, gathering, and more. The quests are aimed at surviving and helping others survive, but players have a limited number of action points for each day. This means that every day Max will have to make difficult choices. The focus is on the civilian experience and the psychological impact of war.

Hollow Home was developed by Twigames, a Kyiv-based studio. The studio was founded in 2015 and specializes in emotional games that raise socially important topics. “Hollow Home is not just a game for us,” says Twigames founder Valeriy Minenko. – “It’s a personal project with a distinct visual style and a story about civilians trying to survive.

Hollow Home has already received a number of industry awards, including Best Conference Game and Game Star at Games Gathering 2024, Nordic Game Pitch Battle 2024, as well as Most Promising Game and Critics’ Choice Award at Indie Cup Ukraine 2023.
On the game’ s Steam page, the developers noted that “the game is based on the events of a real war, and it does not contain graphic violence, but the topics that are raised can be quite sensitive. Therefore, the game may not be suitable for all audiences.”
