JurassiCraft is one of the most popular mods with over five million downloads. Its main feature allows players to create their own Jurassic Park from scratch.

The author of the mod is actively working on a completely new version, which will include dozens of planets and locations, and hundreds of NPCs. And even quests with unique plots! Parzi’s Star Wars Mod (PSWG) remains one of the most ambitious mods that cannot be missed.
MineTrek
MineTrek is not really a mod, but rather a mod system that exists in order to simulate the world of Star Trek as accurately as possible.
Server participants recreate detailed versions of spaceships from TV series and movies in full 1:1 size, which in itself is impressive. The project is already 12 years old, and its authors do not plan to stop.
The Lord of the Rings Mod: Renewed
There are tons of LOTR games, but not recently. Fortunately for fans of books and movies, there is The Lord of the Rings Mod: Renewed, a mod that combines content from three films and all books, including The Hobbit and The Silmarillion.
This is one of the largest mods created with the aim of completely recreating Middle-earth. More than a hundred biomes, a thousand new blocks, trees, and weather effects, custom crafting, an advanced combat system and even the Curuquesta speech engine, which allows NPCs to understand where and when they are and who they are talking to, which affects the dialogues themselves… this is impressive.
Witchcraft and Wizardry
No matter how much times has passed, Harry Potter remains as popular as ever. And even though a large-scale RPG is already in development, we don’t even know when it will be released and what it will be like. But you can download Witchcraft and Wizardry right now. It’s a large-scale mod that allows you to visit the recreated Hogwarts in detail, where you can attend classes, learn magic and save the world in the process.
Initially just a custom map, now Witchcraft and Wizardry is a whole world without a single vanilla asset with third-person cut scenes and a dialog system. Not a mod anymore, but a full-fledged game.
Verdict
This is just a small fraction of what this great game offers. Minecraft is a unique development tool where completely different players, with or without experience, can work on entire worlds. And many of the mods are more like full-fledged games, often much better than the official ones.
