Google Pixel Fold might launch under the Pixel 9 series with a new name

New reports making the rounds have it that the coming Google Pixel Fold might bring some changes that no one expected. The folks at Android Authority report that this second-generation Pixel foldable device won’t launch on its own. However, at this point, it’s only reasonable to take these reports with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation.

According to the reports, Google might push the launch of their second-generation foldable device to fall. As we already know, the coming Google Pixel 9 series will launch this fall, featuring the new Tensor processor. The reason for this change in the launch schedule for the Pixel Fold might be to equip it with the coming Tensor processor that’ll be in use on the Pixel 9 series devices.

The sources also point out that this change in the launch schedule might also bring yet another change. From previous leaks and reports, we expect the coming Pixel 9 series to launch with two devices. This has been the case ever since the launch of the Google Pixel 6 series, as the A model hits the launch stage a few months after the main series.

But this year, new reports claim that we’ll get to see two new Pixel 9 series devices. One of these new devices might be the Pixel Fold 2 as it might get a new name and join the Pixel 9 series. The possible name that this coming device might adopt is the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Over the past few months, we have the understanding that the coming Google Pixel Fold has the codename “comet”. Now we’re learning that this codename is also linked to the coming Pixel 9 Pro, making this the third entry into the series. We’ll talk about the fourth entry will be in another article, as this new rumour touches on this shocking entry.
