Here’s how the Google Pixel 8 Pro thermometer sensor works

-

The Google Pixel 8 Pro thermometer is one of the new features that launched on the new Google flagship device. Ever since its launch, this feature has taken the back seat as users have not been able to access it for usage as Google blocked its usage via software limitations. These limitations were in place because this new thermometer had to meet some governmental regulations before becoming available for public usage.

Now that Google has its affairs intact, it’s now allowing users access to this thermometer feature. Users of the Google Pixel 8 Pro can now access this feature thanks to the new Pixel feature drop via the new update. Despite giving users access to this new feature, some might still have a hard time understanding how to use this thermometer to check their body temperature.

If you own a Google Pixel 8 Pro, and you’re wondering how to use this thermometer, Google has provided a guide on its usage. According to a guide posted on the Google Blog, all users need to do is to point the Pixel 8 Pro’s rear camera at the forehead and sweep across. The temperature sensor that is also located on the rear camera cutout will then measure the body’s temperature by accurately scanning the temporal artery. Google’s Tensor G3 chip plays a vital role in measuring the temperature, as it helps calculate the body temperature from the sensor’s readings.

Users are to get the device’s rear camera close to the subject’s forehead for a more accurate reading. When the user gets to a position close to their forehead that the device can start reading from, they get haptic feedback. This feedback will help users to know exactly when they can start panning the device across their forehead.

Once the reading is ready, it’ll be displayed on the device for the user to see. From the app that’ll display the user’s temperature, they can also access their previous readings from up to 7 days. This feature which is now becoming accessible to Pixel 8 Pro users will gain a ton of attraction and possibly move people to purchase this flagship device.
