Xiaomi has expanded its automotive lineup by introducing the Skynomad N90 Max, a large SUV with extended range, as well as a special version of it – the Explorer Edition. The standard seven-seat model costs 269,900 yuan (about $40,215), while the Explorer Edition, featuring a built-in retractable roof and heated floors, costs 299,900 yuan (approximately $44,685).

The Explorer Edition is the more unusual of the two configurations. Instead of using a separately mounted tent, Xiaomi has integrated an electric pop-up roof directly into the vehicle’s structure. When deployed, the module increases the SUV’s overall height by 10 cm, resulting in a drag coefficient of 0.245.
When the vehicle is parked, the roof can be raised to create a single open space with a maximum height of 2.29 m. The upper sleeping module has an area of approximately 2 m², can support a load of up to 200 kg, and features its own climate control system, lighting, and charging ports.
To make this design possible, the Explorer Edition features a five-seat interior instead of the seven-seat layout found in the standard model. The second row is equipped with a 40:60 split bench seat that folds out into a flat sleeping surface measuring 1.87 × 1.24 m via an electric mechanism, without the need to remove the seats. The cabin floor is covered with wood-grain aluminum and features a heating system that can reach up to 38°C.

Both versions of the SUV feature the same powertrain with an extended range, which includes an all-wheel-drive system with two electric motors delivering a combined output of 310 kW. The vehicle also features a triple lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 76 kWh and a 60-liter fuel tank. According to Xiaomi, the standard model has a claimed CLTC-rated range of 464 km on electric power alone, with a total range of 1,705 km. In the Explorer Edition, this figure is slightly lower – 1,688 km. Both models accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

The vehicle’s systems run on Xiaomi’s HyperOS, which can control up to six displays, including a head-up display, a central screen, and rear-seat entertainment monitors. The interior is also equipped with a 9-liter compressor refrigerator and an audio system with 25 speakers.

To assist the driver, the SUV is equipped with Xiaomi’s HAD system. The sensor suite uses a front-facing LiDAR and a rear-facing LiDAR. According to the company, this is designed to improve parking assistance and the detection of low obstacles behind the vehicle.
Xiaomi is already accepting orders for the standard Skynomad N90 Max and the Explorer Edition. Deliveries are expected to begin between November and December 2026. The series is available in seven colors: Burgundy, Distant Mountain Green, Butterfly Valley Blue, Volcanic Gray, Cool Khaki, Pearl White, and Obsidian Black.
