The Ministry of Defense has authorized the deployment of the Ukrainian-developed NUMO ground robot on the frontline to support troops and enhance logistics in combat zones.

The device is designed to reduce the risks faced by soldiers on the frontline and features a modular architecture that allows for rapid changes in equipment – from combat turrets and relay masts to mine-clearing tools and rotary cutters. This versatility enables it to perform a wide range of tasks while helping to preserve the lives and safety of personnel.

The NUMO robot is developed by the Lviv-based company Tank Bureau, which specializes in autonomous ground systems. Fully loaded, the robot weighs around 620 kg and can carry cargo up to 300 kg. The system can be deployed in under ten minutes and has a ground clearance of 23 cm, enabling it to traverse challenging terrain such as forests, swamps, and camouflaged positions, while effectively operating in modern combat conditions.
NUMO provides considerable operational flexibility for communication and mission tasks. According to the manufacturer, it can cover up to 26 km on two batteries and up to 45 km on four, with a maximum speed of approximately 6.4 km/h. The platform supports six communication channels – Wi‑Fi, DTC, Silvus, Starlink, LTE, and SineLink – with a maximum range of about 1.5 km. Communication capabilities can be further extended using the “Droid Box” module, which integrates both hardware and software solutions.

A reconnaissance‑assault variant called Droid TW has been developed on the NUMO chassis; it can be fitted with either a KT‑7.62 (PKT) machine gun or an M2 Browning in 12.7 mm calibre. The Droid TW‑12.7, developed by Tank Bureau in cooperation with DevDroid, is already in service with about 30 Ukrainian brigades.
Nazar Pryimak, director of Tank Bureau, emphasizes that ground robotic platforms are intended to perform tasks that currently put people at risk: delivering ammunition and supplies, evacuating the wounded, and operating in high‑risk environments. He states that NUMO has passed combat trials and demonstrated practical value on the battlefield, and that its official codification confirms its operational suitability.
The DELTA combat management system has been integrated across all levels of Ukraine’s armed forces, enabling commanders to better coordinate operations and monitor the battlefield in real time. During its deployment, the system has reportedly confirmed the destruction or damage of more than 130,000 enemy targets, providing critical reconnaissance data for operational planning and resource allocation.
