Ukrainian Air Force shoots down 3 Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers today

-

February 29 turns out to be a painful day for Russian aviation – Thursday hasn’t even ended yet, and the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already “landed” 3 Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers. The successes of the Ukrainian military were reported on the official Facebook page of the Command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, in the last two weeks, our soldiers have destroyed 13 enemy military aircraft.

The first report appeared in the morning. “Today, February 29 – a date that occurs once every four years, but already a familiar day for Russians with the loss of another aircraft. Minus Su-34 on the Eastern Front! Thank you for your work!” – wrote Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Facebook.

But literally within a few hours, a new message appeared about two more downed fighters. “It seems they don’t get it! Russian pilots draw no conclusions! Today, around 9:00 on the Avdiivka and Mariupol fronts, two more Su-34 occupiers were destroyed!” – stated the post from the Command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Su-34 is a Soviet/Russian two-seater fighter-bomber designed for precise missile and bomb strikes on enemy ground targets in both operational and tactical depths, as well as for engaging enemy air targets. It can reach speeds of up to 1,900 km/h at altitudes of up to 14.6 km.

In February, reports of downed Russian aircraft have become more frequent. Recall that recently we reported that on February 23, the Air Force shot down a Russian long-range radar detection aircraft, the A-50 with the callsign “Bayan”. This aircraft serves as an airborne command post, used by the terrorist country for long-range radar detection, control, and guidance for missile strikes against Ukraine from strategic aviation. Therefore, its loss is quite unpleasant for the occupiers.
