Microsoft has announced a major special event dedicated to the Windows ecosystem and Surface devices, which will take place on October 7 in San Francisco, USA. This is the company’s first full-scale presentation in this category in more than two years – the last such event was held in May 2024. The main theme of the entire event will be the practical application of next-generation technologies and hardware.
A key topic of the presentation will be a discussion of “how on-device AI will shape the next chapter in the evolution of personal computers.” Microsoft plans to demonstrate how AI computing directly on the device will transform users’ everyday experiences, boost productivity, and ensure a higher level of data privacy without constantly relying on cloud servers.
The organizers have assembled a distinguished group of top executives from the technology industry. Participants in the event will include: Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft; Pavan Davuluri, head of the Windows and Devices division; and Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA.
The participation of NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang indicates that the presentation will focus on the latest RTX Spark hardware platform and its deep integration into the Windows ecosystem. It is expected that during the event, the companies will reveal detailed technical specifications, the official price, and the exact release date of the powerful Surface Laptop Ultra, built on the RTX Spark platform. This device promises to set new performance standards for mobile workstations designed for computationally intensive tasks and on-premises AI models.
Despite rumors that periodically surface in the industry, industry insiders note that a full-fledged announcement of the next-generation operating system – Windows 12 – should not be expected at this event. The company’s focus will be entirely on the ongoing improvement of the Windows platform, strengthening the personal computer ecosystem, and unlocking the potential of on-premises AI capabilities.
