The film “Spider-Man: A New Day” from Sony and Marvel Studios set an all-time box office record in North America, grossing $360 million in its first three days of release. The film surpassed the previous record of $357.1 million, held by “Avengers: Endgame.” The film’s total worldwide gross reached $932 million, making it the second-highest grossing film in history behind the same blockbuster, “Avengers: Endgame,” with its $1.22 billion.

Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman expressed his gratitude to the creative team and audiences for this historic achievement. The film marked the most successful debut in the careers of actors Tom Holland and Zendaya, as well as director Destin Daniel Cretton.

On its opening day, including previews, the film grossed $169.8 million, setting a new record. Saturday’s box office total was $101.5 million, and Sunday’s was $88.7 million. Late-night screenings brought in $72 million, surpassing the previous record of $60 million.

This success was achieved without using IMAX theaters in North America, although the film was actively screened in other premium formats, including ScreenX and 4DX. At the Regal chain, the film drove record growth in ticket, food, and merchandise sales.

Producers Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige emphasized that audiences highly appreciated the emotional depth of the story and Peter Parker’s human qualities. The film received a high “A” rating in CinemaScore surveys, with its core audience consisting of young adults aged 18 to 34. These initial box office successes confirm the high level of interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe worldwide.
