According to journalist and insider Mark Gurman, citing knowledgeable sources, the second-generation iPhone Air is set to debut in the spring of 2027 and will feature a number of notable improvements.

According to available information, the updated model, codenamed V62, will feature an additional rear camera for ultra-wide-angle photography. The new camera system is already undergoing active testing within Apple. Mark Gurman also claims that the second-generation iPhone Air may offer improved battery life thanks to a larger battery or software optimizations. At the same time, the device’s overall design will likely remain unchanged.
Some of the main drawbacks of the first-generation iPhone Air were considered to be the presence of only one main camera and below-average battery life, even though the smartphone’s starting price was $999. It is expected that the manufacturer will address these shortcomings in the next generation. It is also reported that the new model will be powered by the A20 Pro processor.

The launch of the second-generation iPhone Air in the spring of 2027 aligns with previous reports that Apple has decided to change its smartphone release schedule. According to this information, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the company’s first foldable iPhone are set to debut in September 2026. Approximately six months later, the standard iPhone 18 and the new iPhone Air are expected to be released. Additionally, an anniversary iPhone commemorating the lineup’s 20th anniversary is reportedly scheduled for fall 2027.

At the same time, potential buyers of the updated iPhone Air should be prepared for a possible price increase. As previously reported, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company plans to raise the price of its devices due to rising memory costs and a severe component shortage.

Given this, analysts speculate that the base model of this year’s iPhone 18 Pro could rise in price to $1,399. The current starting price of the iPhone Air may also be adjusted.
