The Chainsaw Man manga series has already been fully released, but the anime adaptation is just gaining momentum. Last year, the animated action film Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc was released, serving as a direct sequel to the first season of the anime series. It was highly praised by critics, and following its release, audience interest in the franchise reached an all-time high. The second season of *Chainsaw Man* will serve as a continuation of the film and adapt one of the manga’s most notable story arcs – the International Assassins Arc.

The new trailer effectively confirms that this arc will be adapted as an anime series rather than a standalone film. MAPPA is preparing to capture the atmosphere of the original manga as faithfully as possible. For viewers who are only familiar with the anime, the video offers their first chance to see Quanxi, Hirofumi Yoshida, and Santa Claus. They will be key characters in the story.

Judging by the footage presented, the second season will retain the artistic style and animation quality familiar from the feature film. If MAPPA decides to adapt the entire first volume of the manga within the new season, the sequel could become one of the studio’s most ambitious projects.
The International Assassins Arc is a pivotal moment in the entire story of Chainsaw Man. It is here that the anime’s tone becomes even darker and more unsettling. The trailer suggests that MAPPA has no plans to tone down the violence, horror elements, and explicit content characteristic of the source material. The trailer marks the first appearance of Gwanxi – a Chinese demon hunter and one of the series’ most powerful heroines. Fans of the manga can also catch a glimpse of Yoshida, who plays a key role in the events of the second part of Chainsaw Man, as well as a new villain – Santa Claus.

The trailer features scenes that fans have long wanted to see in animated form, including the moment when Power smashes Kobeni’s car. It concludes with a teaser for the Darkness Devil. This is the first representative of the Primal Fear Devils in the series, whose appearance coincides with the Chainsaw Man’s descent into Hell.

So far, MAPPA has officially confirmed only the adaptation of the International Assassins Arc in the second season. However, given the number of chapters remaining in the first part of the manga, the season could potentially cover significantly more things.
