Apple TV has officially confirmed the return of one of its biggest series hits. The fourth season of Ted Lasso will be released in the summer of 2026. Along with the announcement, the platform published the first excerpt from the new season, in which Jason Sudeikis appears again, not only playing the main role but also remaining the executive producer of the project.
The new season is currently in production. The cast is set to return to their roles, including Emmy winner Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Emmy winner Brett Goldstein, Brendan Gantt, and Jeremy Swift. New faces will also join the cast, including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abby Hearn and Grant Feeley.
The plot of the fourth season returns Ted to Richmond again, this time to face a new professional challenge. He takes over a minor league women’s soccer team. During the season, Ted and his team learn to act more intuitively, make risky decisions and work under constant pressure, which becomes the most ambitious challenge for the protagonist.
Emmy winner Jack Burditt, known for Nobody Wants It, Modern Family and 30 Rock, has joined the series’ production team. He will work as an executive producer as part of a new deal with Apple TV. Jason Sudeikis continues to serve as executive producer alongside Brendan Gantt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Vrubel. Brett Goldstein remains a writer and executive producer alongside Leanne Bowen.
Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh will serve as writers and producers for the season, with Sasha Garron joining as a co-producer, Julia Lyndon in charge of scripts and Dylan Maron serving as story editor. Bill Lawrence remains executive producer through his company Doozer Productions in partnership with Warner Bros. Television Studios and Universal Television, part of NBCUniversal content. Jeff Ingold and Lisa Katzer will also serve as executive producers. The project was created by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Gantt based on the format and characters of NBC Sports.
After its global launch on Apple TV, the series quickly became a cultural phenomenon. “Ted Lasso has set records for the number of viewers and received widespread support from critics and viewers in different countries. The first season became the most nominated comedy series in the history of the Emmy Awards in its year. In addition, the show won the main Emmy Award for Best Comedy Series for the first 2 seasons in a row, cementing its status as one of the most successful projects on the streaming platform.
