Huawei has announced a new launch event for its flagship devices under the slogan “Now is Your Moment.” The grand event is scheduled to take place on July 14 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During the event, the company will introduce the Pura 90 series of smartphones to the global market.

The launch schedule roughly corresponds to last year’s launch of the Pura 80 series. Huawei announced the Pura 90 lineup in China over two months ago, and it includes three models: the Pura 90, the Pura 90 Pro, and the top-of-the-line Pura 90 Pro Max. The starting price on the Chinese market was 4,699 yuan, or about $690.

The base Huawei Pura 90 features a 6.84-inch flat display with 1.5K resolution and a 6,500 mAh battery. The smartphone is 6.9 mm thick and weighs 203 g. The rear panel features a triple-camera module comprising a 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP telephoto sensor, and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

The Huawei Pura 90 Pro features a 6.6-inch display and an advanced camera system. It includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, a 12.5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom.

The flagship Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max is equipped with a larger 6.9-inch display and an even more impressive camera setup. It includes a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom and up to 8x optical magnification. Huawei claims that thanks to a specially designed prismatic structure, this telephoto camera captures significantly more light than competitors’ solutions.

Both Pro models are powered by the new Kirin 9030S chip, which delivers a noticeable improvement in AI image processing. They also feature a 6,000 mAh battery and Kunlun protective glass for enhanced durability. Both smartphones support 4x optical zoom, up to 100x digital zoom for the main camera, and feature a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. The devices run on HarmonyOS 6.1 and come with a suite of AI-powered photography tools.
However, it’s worth noting that the company often makes some changes to the technical specifications of its flagship devices before their global release, and the Pura 90 series may not be an exception. Huawei has not yet disclosed global pricing, and it is also unclear whether all three models will be available on the international market (the Pro Max model may be rebranded as the Ultra). The company is expected to announce all details during its presentation on July 14.
