HMD Global is preparing to significantly refresh its lineup of mid-range devices with the new C2 series. According to information shared by insider @smashx_60 on social media platform X, the series will consist of two models: the base HMD C2 and the slightly upgraded C2P. Both devices will feature large AMOLED screens, support 5G networks, and offer users a clean, clutter-free interface.
The standard C2 model is equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The screen features a circular cutout for the front-facing camera, and its peak brightness reaches 1,000 nits. The hardware platform is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, which works in tandem with 6 GB of RAM. For file storage, there is a choice of 128 GB or 256 GB of storage.

Photography capabilities are provided by a 50-megapixel main sensor with electronic image stabilization, supported by two additional lenses at 2 MP and 0.3 MP. Selfies can be taken using the front camera, which also has a resolution of 50 MP. Battery life is ensured by a powerful 6,000 mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging. Other notable features include stereo speakers, IP54-rated water and dust resistance, a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The advanced version of the C2P retains the same Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset and an identical 6.78-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution. However, this screen has become smoother thanks to a 120 Hz refresh rate, and its peak brightness has increased to 1,500 nits, which significantly improves the phone’s usability outdoors in sunlight. The main camera setup has also been upgraded: it now features a 64MP main sensor with optical stabilization, an 8MP wide-angle module, and the same 0.3MP auxiliary sensor. The front-facing camera remains a 50-megapixel unit, as does the 6,000 mAh battery with a 33W charger. In addition, this model features a higher IP65 rating for water and dust resistance, as well as an NFC module.
Both new models are expected to ship with the Android 16 operating system, which is referred to in the leak by the codename A16_Baklava OS. The estimated price of the smartphones looks quite attractive: the standard C2 version will cost approximately €149 to €169 depending on internal storage capacity, while the C2P model will set you back around €200. Buyers of the standard version will be able to choose between mint, dark blue, and lavender body colors, while the Pro version will be available in coral, royal blue, and jade green.

As the Nokia brand licensing agreement nears its end, HMD Global is clearly trying to attract customers with a favorable balance of features and price. For example, last year’s iQOO Z10 Lite, at a similar starting price, offered only an IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and a base 4 GB of RAM, though it did have the same 6,000 mAh battery and Dimensity 6300 processor. Another clear example for comparison is the recently unveiled Honor Play 80 Plus. This device runs on the same Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chip as the HMD C2 and has an even larger 7,500 mAh battery, but is equipped with a much simpler HD+ LCD display and a modest camera setup of 13 MP and 5 MP.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor in these new models should easily handle daily tasks, comfortable social media browsing, running undemanding games, and basic document work.
