Mentra is preparing to start shipping its first smart glasses, Mentra Live. At first glance, the device does not differ much from other solutions on the market, but the company relies on an open ecosystem. The glasses run on an open-source operating system and support an SDK available to developers from early 2025. In addition, Mentra is launching its own MiniApp Store with dedicated apps for smart glasses.

According to the company, the MiniApp Store will be the first specialized store of this format. It will be accessible via the Mentra app for iOS and Android. At the start, the platform supports both simple functions such as quick note saving and more complex scenarios. Among the examples, Mentra demonstrates the Chess Cheater app, which uses the front camera and AI to analyze chess positions and give tips to the user.

Mentra Live is based on the MediaTek MTK8766 chipset. The glasses are equipped with a 12-megapixel camera with a 119-degree viewing angle, three microphones, and built-in stereo speakers. The camera supports HD video recording and live streaming to X, YouTube, Twitch, and Instagram. The device also allows you to listen to music and receive calls via WhatsApp, FaceTime, and other communication services.

Mentra Live weighs 43 g. According to the manufacturer, the autonomy of the glasses exceeds 12 hours, and the charging case with a 2200 mAh battery provides an additional 50+ hours of operation. The device is available in a version with prescription lenses.
The price of Mentra Live is $299. The first batch of 1000 pairs will be shipped on February 15. The second, limited batch is scheduled to ship on February 28.
