This leak was particularly generous: next week Motorola will officially unveil its new flagship foldable smartphone, but by then it seems to have lost all secrets. Over the past few weeks, several reputable publications have published not one, not two, but three detailed articles about the successor to last year’s Razr Ultra, also known as the Razr 60 Ultra. Nevertheless, the new materials that have appeared in the public domain are worthy of attention.

Legendary insider Evan Blass has released another batch of high-quality images and what looks like an official 43-second commercial for the upcoming device. Frankly speaking, there are no unexpected revelations in these materials. The foldable smartphone is once again presented in the luxurious Pantone Orient Blue shade with alcantara trim and in the equally attractive Pantone Cocoa with a matte wood-like texture.

The fundamental difference from the previous leaks is that this time we are dealing with polished promotional materials – probably official ones. Both color variants are presented in the most favorable light: the images are clearly designed to attract attention and arouse admiration. They also clearly show the large main and external screens of the device, two rear cameras and one front camera. One of the photos allows you to look inside and evaluate the hinge design, while the commercial emphasizes fast charging, the quality of the rear and front cameras, and the ability to customize the external display.

As for the technical specifications, they have been rumored for a long time and look quite reliable. The main AMOLED display will have a diagonal of 7 inches, a resolution of 2992×1224 pixels, and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. The external AMOLED screen will be 4 inches, 1272×1080 pixels and also 165 Hz. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and will be offered in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB of storage and 12 or 16GB of RAM. All three cameras – the main, ultra-wide-angle and front cameras – will have a resolution of 50 megapixels. The 5000 mAh battery supports 68W wired charging. The software on board will be Android 16, connectivity will be via USB-C, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC, and water and dust protection will be IP48. The device will have dimensions of 171.48×73.99×7.19 mm when expanded, 88×74.1×15.8 mm when folded, and weigh 199 g.

However, none of these figures has been officially confirmed yet. The overall picture is quite clear: The Razr 70 Ultra actually repeats its predecessor, adding only a newer processor and a slightly larger battery – from 4700 to 5000 mAh – with unchanged dimensions and weight. Perhaps Motorola will surprise us with wireless charging, which in the Razr 60 Ultra was already a good 30 watts, but we shouldn’t hope for it.

Most questions arise around the cost of the new flagship. According to reliable sources, the Razr 70 Ultra in the US with 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM will cost $1499.99. This is $200 more than the starting price of the first Razr Ultra a year ago in a similar configuration. The rise in price is understandable: smartphone manufacturers are in a difficult situation. But it will not be easy to justify this price, especially against the backdrop of last year’s Razr Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Flip 7, which are available much cheaper. For the European market, the situation may be somewhat better if the basic configuration is 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.

At the same time, this is not a verdict yet. The Razr Ultra 2025 received significant discounts fairly quickly after the launch, and it is possible that the new model will suffer the same fate. If the price drops to $1299.99 or even $1199.99 by June-July, the device’s competitive position will improve dramatically. For comparison: The Galaxy Flip 7 costs $1099.99 for the 256 GB version and $1299.99 for the 512 GB version. With a discount, the Razr Ultra 2026 could well claim the title of the best folding smartphone of the year. At least until the Galaxy Flip 8 and Fold 8 come out in the summer, and the expected iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold from Apple in the fall or winter.
