In the budget smartphone segment, features are usually fairly predictable: a large display – check, a basic camera – check, and, of course, compromises – check. Occasionally, however, a device stands out by simply delivering what it promises without trying to overreach. The Motorola Moto G06 Power fits that description. It is an affordable smartphone with a focus on battery life, a sizable screen, and a straightforward, easy-to-use interface. There’s no 5G, no AMOLED display, and no flashy marketing claims. What it does offer is a 7,000 mAh battery, Android 15, and, of course, Motorola’s signature gestures.

Positioning and Price

The Motorola Moto G06 Power is an entry-level model. It is essentially an enhanced version of the standard Moto G06, with “Power” referring specifically to its extended battery life.

At the time of this review, the 4/256 GB variant is priced at $117 (€98), a figure that should be kept in mind when evaluating the device’s strengths and limitations. Other configurations include 4/64 GB, 4/128 GB, and 8/256 GB options.

This smartphone is aimed at users who prioritize:

  • Long battery life without frequent charging
  • A large display for reading, video, and social media
  • A clean, straightforward interface without unnecessary apps or complex skins

Motorola Moto G06 Power

This is not a universal device suited for everyone; it is a specific model for users who want a reliable daily phone without extra technological frills. Such devices are often described as “phones for children or older adults.” That said, I wouldn’t limit it strictly to these groups – it’s simply a clear way to set expectations for what the device offers.

Motorola Moto G06 Power Package Contents

There’s little reason to focus on the appearance of the box itself, so it’s more useful to look at what’s included inside.

The contents are typical for a budget device – and, in fact, similar to what many flagship phones ship with today: the smartphone itself, a USB-C cable, a silicone case, documentation, and a SIM eject tool. There is no charging adapter included, reflecting current eco-friendly trends. Overall, there are no surprises.

Design, Ergonomics, and Build Quality

From a design perspective, the Motorola Moto G06 Power is a typical budget smartphone. It doesn’t attempt to create a “wow” factor, but it does offer a few points of interest.

Motorola Moto G06 Power colors

The review unit is in the Tapestry color – a muted blue shade. The back panel features a faux-leather texture, which feels pleasant in hand, provides a secure grip, and resists fingerprints and dust. The frame is made of plastic and matches the color of the body.

Motorola Moto G06 Power Tapestry

The layout of elements on the Moto G06 Power is conventional. The right side houses the volume buttons and the power button, which includes an integrated fingerprint scanner. They are positioned at a comfortable height and are easy to locate by touch, allowing adjustments without looking at the phone.

On the left side, there is a tray for two nano-SIM cards, along with a dedicated slot for a microSD memory card.

The bottom edge houses the USB Type-C port, the main speaker, and a microphone.

The top edge features a 3.5 mm headphone jack – a welcome inclusion for users who prefer wired headphones.

However, viewed from the front, the design feels dated. The large chin, prominent bezels, and teardrop-shaped front camera cutout give the impression that the Moto G06 Power is echoing a 2020-era design.

But it’s worth asking a simple question: what should we realistically expect from a budget smartphone priced just over $100? Clearly, not ultra-thin bezels, premium materials, or bold design experiments. In this segment, appearance is largely a compromise. And if the phone performs well – which Moto devices generally do – wider bezels are an acceptable trade-off.

Motorola Moto G06 Power Display

The Moto G06 Power features a 6.88-inch IPS display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, which is one of the smartphone’s key highlights. The HD+ resolution (1640×720) results in a pixel density of 263 ppi. Text and images appear acceptable, though users accustomed to Full HD may notice reduced sharpness – which is entirely expected at this price point.

Motorola Moto G06 Power

Scrolling through menus and feeds appears smooth, and the large display is well-suited for video playback and reading. However, colors fade when viewing from off-angles – a common trait of budget IPS panels – so this is a limitation of the technology rather than a flaw specific to the Moto G06 Power.

Color reproduction is generally calm and subdued. The screen doesn’t attempt to artificially enhance images, which helps reduce eye strain.

A small but convenient feature is Water Touch support: the display responds reliably to touches even with wet fingers, which can be genuinely useful in everyday situations.

Performance

The MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra is an unassuming processor, but it delivers stable performance. It handles social media, web browsing, video playback, and messaging with ease. High-end gaming performance, however, is not realistic – though, at this price point of around $100, such expectations would be unreasonable.

Motorola Moto G06 Power system

The RAM Boost feature allows the device to use a portion of its internal storage as virtual RAM.

In everyday use, the smartphone performs adequately: the interface runs smoothly, apps open without noticeable delays, and switching between windows is reasonably fast and unobtrusive. Overall, the performance impression is positive.

Wireless Connectivity

The Motorola Moto G06 Power supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. In everyday use, the connections proved stable: Wi-Fi maintained a reliable signal without drops.

Bluetooth also worked consistently with wireless headphones, showing no sudden disconnections or noticeable latency. Navigation modules (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO) performed correctly as well.

Motorola Moto G06 Power Software

The Moto G06 Power runs Android 15 with minimal modifications. The interface is simple and intuitive, which works well for users seeking a straightforward experience.

There are some personalization options available, though they are limited. That said, most budget smartphone users are unlikely to be particularly concerned with customization.

It’s also worth highlighting Moto Actions – Motorola’s signature gesture controls. For example, double-twisting the phone turns on the flashlight (handy during unexpected power outages), and a wrist twist launches the camera. These features are genuinely convenient, easy to get used to, and quickly become part of daily use. Once you switch to another phone, it’s surprising how much you miss them.

Unlock Methods

The Motorola Moto G06 Power offers multiple ways to unlock the device. The first is the fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button. It works quickly, recognizing the finger on the first try with almost no errors. Even slightly damp fingers are usually detected reliably.

Face unlock is also available. Performance is generally good in daylight, but in low light or when there’s a bright window behind you, it can hesitate for a second or two.

Traditional unlock methods are also supported, including PIN, pattern, or password.

Motorola Moto G06 Power Camera

Let’s be clear from the start – this is not a camera-centric phone; it’s a phone with a camera. There are no five lenses or ultra-high resolutions. It features a 50 MP main sensor and an 8 MP front-facing camera – and that’s it.

Even so, Motorola manages to deliver a level of performance that can be pleasantly surprising for a device in the budget segment.

Motorola Moto G06 Power camera

Thanks to Quad Pixel technology – which combines pixels to improve light sensitivity – daytime photos turn out quite decent. Images are sharp, with natural colors that are not overly saturated.

HDR performs reasonably well: skies don’t turn into washed-out white areas, and shadows retain some detail instead of collapsing into black. However, on closer inspection, fine details are simplified and overall sharpness is limited. This isn’t a camera for cropping or serious post-processing, but it’s more than adequate for social media use.

Indoors or under artificial lighting, sharpness decreases, noise becomes noticeable, and the white balance can sometimes shift toward warmer tones.

Night photography is not a strong point for the Moto G06 Power. Without additional lighting, shots tend to be mediocre, with noticeable noise and loss of detail. The dedicated night mode helps somewhat by increasing brightness and attempting to reduce noise, but sharpness still suffers and fine details are often lost.

The 8 MP front-facing camera is basic, suitable for video calls and simple selfies. Video recording is limited to Full HD and HD at 30 fps, with no stabilization.

The camera app is straightforward, offering only essential shooting modes. These include portrait mode, QR code scanning, night mode, panorama, and a Pro mode. For video, there are also options for time-lapse and slow-motion recording.

Audio

The Moto G06 Power offers a pleasant surprise: stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support – yes, on a phone priced just over $100. Sound is reasonably loud and provides a sense of spatial separation. It’s not exceptional, but more than adequate for watching shows in the kitchen, listening to podcasts, or background music.

Bass is noticeably lacking, but the overall frequency balance is decent. Mid and high tones are clear, voices sound natural, and music doesn’t turn into a muddy mix.

There is a dedicated Dolby Atmos app for adjusting the speakers. Within it, you can enable spatial sound and choose from several stereo modes: Smart Audio, Music, Movie, Game, Podcast, and a Custom option.

Another convenient feature is the classic 3.5 mm headphone jack – a rarity in 2026.

Battery Life

This is where the Moto G06 Power really stands out. Its 7,000 mAh battery is a substantial figure, especially considering that most modern smartphones have batteries around 5,000 mAh (excluding rugged phones, which fall into a different category).

Motorola Moto G06 Power

According to the manufacturer, the smartphone can last up to 62–65 hours in mixed-use scenarios. In real-world use, the Moto G06 Power easily handles two full days of active usage, and with moderate use, it can last even longer. In power-saving mode, the device can run for 3–4 days. In environments with frequent blackouts, a phone like this becomes more than just a gadget – it’s a practical lifeline.

The smartphone supports 18 W charging. A full charge takes around 2.5 hours. This isn’t fast – modern flagships can recharge in 15–20 minutes – but when you only need to charge every two days, speed becomes less critical. Wireless charging is not available, which is expected for this class of device.

Conclusions

Motorola Moto G06 Power

The Motorola Moto G06 Power is a case of a smartphone that doesn’t try to impress, yet leaves a positive overall impression. It lacks flagship technologies, but delivers what matters most to many users: excellent battery life, a large 120 Hz display, and stable performance for everyday tasks.

Yes, the front design feels somewhat dated, the camera struggles in low light, and charging isn’t particularly fast. However, these compromises are reasonable when the device’s price is taken into account. For its cost, the Moto G06 Power delivers exactly what it promises: a reliable everyday smartphone that won’t let you down and doesn’t need to be charged constantly.

Motorola Moto G06 Power

It’s a solid choice for anyone seeking a simple, straightforward, and durable phone – an area where the Motorola Moto G06 Power performs convincingly.
