Nothing has announced the launch of the beta version of Essential Apps Builder, a tool for building personalized apps using natural language. The new feature will be available to Nothing Phone 3 users, who will be able to create their own apps through so-called vibe coding, i.e. by entering text queries without traditional programming.

Essential Apps Builder is a part of the Essential Suite of AI tools that the British manufacturer introduced in September 2025 as a step towards the creation of an AI-native operating system. Previously, the tool was available only in an early Alpha version for internal use and a limited community of testers. Now, the company led by Carl Pei has started gradually rolling out the beta version to a wider range of users.

According to Nothing, access to the new feature is being opened in stages through the Playground hub and is currently limited to the Nothing Phone 3 model. To participate in the testing, users need to register on the waiting list. A full-fledged stable release is planned for later this year and will include the Remixing Apps feature, which will also become part of the Playground hub. The company has also simplified the process of publishing and updating apps by adding clear markings for active, draft, and change versions. In addition, Essential Apps Builder now supports dark mode.

Although the tool is currently available only on Nothing Phone 3, it is planned to be extended to other Nothing and CMF devices running Nothing OS 4.0 or later in the future after the beta version is stabilized. The service requires access to geolocation, read-only calendar, and contacts. Because of this, the current features are limited to creating location-based reminders, viewing schedules, timers for meetings, and quick access widgets for contacts.

The company says that it plans to expand functionality in the near future, including access to the camera and microphone, network requests, notification systems, vibration, calls, and Bluetooth. The operating system update, scheduled for the end of February, will also add user activity recognition, usage statistics, sensor data, and integration with the system’s Weather API.

The launch of the beta version of Essential Apps Builder comes a few months after the presentation of the Essential Suite. The tool allows you to create apps and widgets by interpreting text queries in natural language, which can change the approach to personalizing the mobile experience and make development more accessible to a wider range of users.
