Prices for NVIDIAβs GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards are rising rapidly. The latest information on graphics card prices indicates that some models have nearly doubled in price since their release. The main factor driving this trend is high demand for AI-focused data center equipment.

Earlier, in January, reports emerged that NVIDIA and AMD had warned their manufacturing partners about an upcoming price increase for their products. These reports were followed by news of price adjustments of approximately 15β20% across the entire RTX 50 series. Six months later, specific figures have been revealed.
According to current prices on the Chinese market β which may undergo some changes following price adjustments in the U.S. β the RTX 5060 Ti could cost around $783 instead of the initial $429. The expected price for the RTX 5070 is approaching $973, and for the RTX 5070 Ti, $1,408 β nearly double their initial suggested retail prices of $549 and $749, respectively.
The most significant price increases have been recorded in the high-end segment, where prices were already high to begin with. The RTX 5080 graphics card, which initially sold for $999, is reportedly rising in price to approximately $1,845. The flagship RTX 5090 model has seen a jump from its initial price of $1,999 to $3,843.
These figures correspond to NVIDIAβs base price guidelines. Models from partner companies featuring custom cooling systems or factory overclocking are expected to cost even more. The key reason for this situation is not demand from gamers, but the needs of the AI sector.
NVIDIAβs enterprise division, which generates high profits through large orders for data centers, has transformed GPU production capacity into a scarce and more profitable resource. Against this backdrop, the production of consumer graphics cards for the gaming segment has become a lower priority.
Under current conditions, users of current-generation graphics cards should focus on extending the lifespan of their existing equipment. Given the rising prices of gaming consoles and graphics cards, the PC gaming segment is gradually shifting into the category of a high-cost hobby. If these trends continue, building a gaming PC will, by default, require a budget typically reserved for enthusiasts.
If this trend continues, a similar price increase is expected from AMD as well. The company is unlikely to significantly lower its prices compared to NVIDIA, since both manufacturers are competing for the same limited production capacity at TSMCβs factories.
