Japanese manufacturer Sharp has unveiled a new affordable smartphone model called the Sharp AQUOS Wish6. Although the company has fully revealed the device’s design and technical specifications, sales will not begin until mid-September 2026. Sharp has not yet disclosed the exact price of the new model, planning to announce it just before its market launch.

This device is the sixth model in the Wish lineup and fully embodies the concept of its predecessors: to offer users a simple and reliable gadget without a hefty price tag.
The device’s 6.6-inch display features HD+ resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. The body is 8.33 mm thick and weighs 189 g, and Sharp claims that the Wish 6’s bend resistance has increased by approximately 20% compared to the previous version.
The hardware platform is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, paired with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The same hardware was used in the AQUOS Wish5, so the new model can be considered more of a scheduled update than a complete redesign. Battery life is provided by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for intelligent charging to slow down battery degradation over time.
Photography capabilities are provided by a 50.1 MP main rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8 MP front-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture. The smartphone runs on Android 16 with a guarantee of 2 major OS updates and 4 years of security patches. Other features include a fingerprint scanner, face recognition, a FeliCa module for contactless payments, support for two SIM cards (nanoSIM and eSIM), a microSD card slot supporting up to 2 TB, and a 3.5-mm headphone jack.
The device has a built-in “panic alarm” that triggers a loud sound when shaken, after which it automatically calls your selected emergency contacts and sends them a message with your location. In addition, an AI-based call analysis system detects potential fraud by comparing calls to known suspicious numbers. Wish6 is also the first model in the series to offer the ability to completely block international calls to protect against phone scammers from abroad. If you’re unable to answer, the AI-powered voice assistant will automatically transcribe the voicemail into text.
