Anker has recently announced its proprietary Thus AI chip and now officially unveiled the first headphones with it integrated. The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max models use it to support Whisper Clear technology to improve voice quality. Of course, they boast the typical set of features of modern wireless headphones, such as ANC, voice control, and personalized sound. But at the same time, the manufacturer has added a number of exclusive features. In particular, the Liberty 5 Pro Max received the AI Note-Taker function, and both models have charging cases with touchscreen displays.

The Thus chip works in both versions of Liberty 5 Pro along with eight microphones and two bone conduction sensors to deliver clear voice transmission even when there is noise around. The system uses an AI model to separate the user’s voice from background noise so that the other person can hear the speech clearly during calls. Anker notes that bone conduction sensors can detect voice even at lower speech volumes, but it requires “moderately quiet conditions.”
The Thus chip provides support for voice commands. There are 20 different commands available to control functions and perform tasks, and the response speed, according to the company, is less than a second.

Both models are equipped with Adaptive ANC 4.0 technology, which uses eight microphones to analyze sound data at a frequency of up to 384,000 times per second. The system monitors external noise and sounds that can penetrate the ear canal and adjusts the ANC level in real time. The company claims that the noise reduction algorithm is able to effectively deal with a wide range of noises, including human voices. Anker also claims that the ANC efficiency in the new headphones can be twice as high as in Liberty 4 Pro.

To customize the sound individually, both models have the HearID 5.0 function. Based on a short hearing test, it creates a personalized equalizer. With AI Sound Enhancement, the headphones support sound restoration technology, which, according to the company, can compensate for up to 65% of the “quality loss” that usually occurs due to Bluetooth compression.
Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max will last up to 6.5 hours on a single charge with ANC enabled. When using the charging case, the total battery life increases to 28 hours. Both models support Bluetooth multi-point connectivity and are compatible with Bluetooth 6.1, Apple Find My, and Google Fast Pair. In addition, the headphones are IP55 dust and water resistant.

The main difference between the models is the charging cases. The Liberty 5 Pro case has a 0.96-inch TFT display on the front of the case. Instead, Liberty 5 Pro Max boasts a 1.78-inch AMOLED display. The Pro Max version also features AI Note-Taker, which can create text transcripts of meetings in the proprietary app, identify conversation participants, and create a list of key tasks. At the same time, both models support AI translation. In Liberty 5 Pro, the translation works directly through the headphones, and in Liberty 5 Pro Max, the function is available both in the headphones and through the charging case.
