Twenty years of WWDC presentations are coming to an end, and the next event will be the last for the CEO whose name embodies the development of these events. Apple has officially confirmed that WWDC 2026 will take place from June 8 to 12, with the keynote presentation starting on June 8 at 10:00 a.m. PST (20:00 p.m. Kyiv time) at Apple Park. The official slogan of this year’s event is “Coming Bright Up”.
This expression is a direct reference to the updated interface of Siri’s voice assistant with the Dynamic Island element, as previously reported by Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman. In addition to software announcements, the upcoming event will have a huge historical significance for the company, as this presentation will be the final one for Tim Cook as CEO. On September 1 this year, John Ternus will take over the management of the tech giant.
During the event, iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 are expected to be released. Test builds for developers will be available for download on the day of the presentation, and open public beta versions are scheduled to launch in July. The key innovation of the release is a radically redesigned Siri. The voice assistant will get a glowing interface in the Dynamic Island area, integration with Gemini algorithms to generate responses, and a separate app to store the history of dialogs. In addition, there will be a special Extensions system that will allow users to choose between Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT neural networks when interacting with Apple Intelligence AI functions.

The general list of improvements in iOS 27 will include an intensity slider for the translucent Liquid Glass visual style that debuted in the previous version of the system. The update will also bring the integration of smart AI features into the Calendar and Health apps, improved visual recognition and text processing tools, as well as an optimized multitasking mode for iPadOS. In general, future versions of the software, numbered 27, will be aimed at stabilizing and polishing the interface after the large-scale redesign that took place in iOS 26.
Thus, Tim Cook’s speech on June 8 is turning into one of the most important personal events in the company’s history for a long time, regardless of the functional content of iOS 27 itself. The event’s slogan reflects quite specific innovations. All elements of the WWDC 2026 corporate identity, including the brightly colored invitation design and the illuminated logo, point to the upcoming visual update of Siri. When the assistant is activated in iOS 27, the Dynamic Island area will expand and emit light. Apple has actually declassified this design in its conference announcements. In addition, the phrase “Coming Bright Up” refers to the Liquid Glass style, which uses the effects of light refraction and scattering. The new slider for adjusting these effects in iOS 27 will be a response to complaints from those users who found the original design too cumbersome.

For consumers, the first presentation will remain the main attraction, but for the developer community, key information will be announced at 13:00 Pacific Time (23:00 Kyiv time) at the Platforms State of the Union event. Despite the fact that Apple has been providing Apple Intelligence tools for two years, the technical details of third-party software integration with the new Siri and the architecture of the Extensions system for connecting Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT have remained unknown until now. The release of this documentation on June 8 will show how open the access to the new APIs will be and how quickly third-party authors will be able to adapt their products. Since the beta versions of iOS 27 will be released immediately after the presentation, developers will not have time to prepare and will be able to start real testing of the system immediately.

Tim Cook led Apple during the period of maximum growth in iPhone sales, oversaw the release of the Apple Watch, AirPods, the transition to Apple’s own Silicon processors, the release of the Vision Pro headset, and the achievement of a $3 trillion capitalization. His departure at a time when the company has to prove its capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence is a symbolic and dramatic step. The joint appearance of Tim Cook and hardware chief John Ternus on the WWDC stage will be the first public introduction of the future successor as the company’s future head before he officially takes office on September 1.
