Xiaomi has expanded the capabilities of its flagship Smart Band 9 Pro fitness bracelet by launching a special early access program, the Pioneer Program. The launch of the initiative was announced by Zhang Lei, head of the company’s wearables division. As part of the program, users get the opportunity to be the first to test a new version of the software before its public release. For Xiaomi, this is a way to test the stability and acceptance of new features among the most active device owners.

The main novelty of the update is support for contactless payments Tap to Pay via Alipay. Now you don’t need to take out your smartphone or open apps to pay for purchases. It is enough to bring your wrist to the terminal and confirm the transaction.
Along with the payment function, Xiaomi has updated the stress monitoring interface. The graphs have a new visual format with clearer and more compact bar indicators. Thanks to this, users no longer have to understand overloaded numbers and complex diagrams.
The update also eliminated a number of technical shortcomings that Smart Band 9 Pro owners had previously complained about. In particular, errors related to the display of digital car keys were fixed, and GPS performance in interval training modes was improved. This should result in more stable connectivity and better activity tracking accuracy, whether you’re using the band for training or managing your daily activities.

Registration for the Pioneer Program was only available for a limited period of time – a few hours on the launch day. Testing of the new software will start on January 21 and will last for about a week. Users who are included in the list of participants will receive the update automatically without the need for manual installation.

It is worth noting that all new features are currently available exclusively for Smart Band 9 Pro. Other Xiaomi wearables have not yet received support for Tap to Pay and the updated health monitoring interface.
