ZTE has unveiled a new version of its gaming smartphone called the Nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition, whose main feature is the unique AquaCore cooling system, which combines air and liquid cooling. This gaming device is equipped with an AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate, an integrated cooler, specialized Neo Triggers 5.0 touch-sensitive controls with a 550 Hz polling rate, a powerful Dimensity 7400 platform, and a 6,210 mAh battery that supports 80 W fast charging.
The base version of the Neo 5 GT was first announced earlier this year at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. Now, the Chinese developer of mobile devices for gamers is launching a Special Edition on the international market. The key difference between this new model and the standard version lies in its AquaCore thermal architecture with dual active cooling. While the standard version relies on traditional heat dissipation and a built-in fan, the Special Edition combines air cooling with liquid cooling.

For the liquid cooling circuit, the manufacturer used a special coolant typically found in AI server systems. The smartphone’s hardware is powered by a 4-nanometer MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, which works in tandem with 12 GB of RAM. Storage capacity is available in 256 GB or 512 GB configurations, depending on the selected model. The device comes with the MyOS 16 operating system pre-installed, which is based on Android 16. The manufacturer promises five years of software support for this model, although the exact number of guaranteed full updates to the Android OS itself remains unknown at this time.
The other technical specifications are identical to those of the base model. The smartphone features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2720×1224 pixels), which supports a 144 Hz refresh rate and is capable of delivering a peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits. The rear camera consists of two modules: a 50 MP main sensor and a 2 MP auxiliary sensor designed to fill the space on the panel. The front-facing camera for selfies and video calls has a resolution of 16 MP.

A 6,210 mAh battery ensures long battery life and supports 80 W wired charging. The device does not feature wireless charging. Notable additional features include an RGB-backlit fan, the integrated AI assistant Copilot Demi 2.0, dedicated Neo Triggers 5.0 gaming triggers at 550 Hz, stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra support, and an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The Nubia Neo 5 GT Special Edition smartphone is available in surge black and glacial silver. Global sales will begin this July. At the time of writing, ZTE has not disclosed the exact price of the device or specific release dates.
