Users who have to work in extreme conditions, while traveling, or simply spend a lot of time outdoors often prefer rugged smartphones. And while this choice used to mean certain compromises in terms of performance, the situation is changing now that OSCAL is preparing to unveil its new rugged smartphone, the PILOT 8.
The new model features an 8-core Qualcomm QCM6690 chip, which ensures faster app launches, smoother multitasking, and more responsive system performance. The smartphone has up to 48 GB of RAM (12 GB + 36 GB virtual) and 256 GB of flash storage, which can be expanded with a memory card of up to 2 TB. This should be enough for working with large files, photos, videos, and apps. Support for Wi-Fi 7, Dual 5G, and Bluetooth 6.0 ensures faster connections, lower latency, and a more seamless experience when interacting with multiple devices.

The OSCAL PILOT 8 is designed to operate in demanding conditions, so it offers superior protection not only for the device itself but also for the sound. The 4.5-watt speaker delivers clearer voice communication, louder notifications, and better sound projection – even outdoors. The smartphone meets the requirements of the MIL-STD-810H military standard and the IP68 and IP69K standards, so it can withstand dust, water, drops, impacts, vibrations, and operation at temperatures ranging from -20°C to 60°C. It also features a water-resistant USB port, a one-touch water-removal function, and AI Rain Touch.
The 10,000 mAh battery provides long battery life and supports 55 W fast charging and 5 W reverse charging, so the smartphone can be used as a power bank for other devices.
The PILOT 8 features a triple-camera system that includes a 108-megapixel Samsung main sensor, which ensures high detail and clarity for both work documents and landscape photos. The 20-megapixel night vision camera lets you see details invisible to the naked eye, ensuring reliable visibility during inspections, patrols, camping, and outdoor activities. The 50-megapixel front-facing camera delivers vibrant, natural selfies and crystal-clear video calls even in challenging lighting conditions.
The PILOT 8 features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate combined with a 240 Hz touch sampling rate. This ensures smoother scrolling, faster touch response, and a more comfortable gaming experience. Thanks to Widevine L1 certification, users can watch Netflix, Disney+, and YouTube in Full HD quality. Brightness of up to 600 nits ensures a comfortable viewing experience both indoors and outdoors.
The smartphone runs on the latest DokeOS 5.0 based on Android 16, delivering smoother performance and a more intuitive user experience thanks to improvements in usability, personalization, speed, privacy, and AI features. Thanks to the Doke AI ecosystem, the device integrates DeepSeek-R1, ChatGPT-4o mini, and Gemini AI 2.0 to help simplify everyday tasks, as well as the Hi Doki AI assistant, which allows you to control the device using your voice.
