Price and package contents

At the time of this review, the keyboard is priced at $37. It comes in bright orange packaging, with the keyboard neatly placed on top. Underneath (in the lower section of the box), you’ll find a USB charging cable along with the standard warranty card and user manual.

Basically, there’s nothing unusual here – a standard package, just like with most budget wireless keyboards.

The unit I’m reviewing is in black. The first thing that stands out when you pick it up is the incredibly slim yet sturdy body. It doesn’t reflect light and isn’t prone to fingerprints – definitely a big plus. I personally dislike when smudges and prints are all over a device, and I’m sure fellow perfectionists will relate.

The keyboard comes with a slight tilt that isn’t adjustable. I wouldn’t call it a drawback, but having that option would have been nice. Still, it’s comfortable to work with, and I’ve already spent quite a bit of time typing on it.

On the underside, you’ll find the battery, hidden behind a raised block that also creates the tilt. There are rubber feet to keep the keyboard steady on a surface, as well as a switch for the backlight.

You’ll also find a USB adapter on the underside for connecting the keyboard to a PC or laptop. The wireless dongle attaches magnetically to the keyboard, keeping it securely in place.

Keys

To start with, the Canyon HKB-W11 is a full-size keyboard equipped with 113 low-profile scissor switches. They’re quiet, soft, and overall feel very similar to a laptop keyboard. The key travel is short, about 2 mm. On the top row, there are 12 Fn-based multimedia keys that help streamline everyday tasks – like adjusting volume, skipping tracks, or controlling screen brightness – without extra hassle.

The manufacturer claims the keys are rated for up to 10 million presses, which is actually quite solid for scissor switches (the numbers are usually lower). So there’s really no need to worry about durability – this keyboard should easily last for several years of active use, if not longer.

The switches are made from the same matte ABS plastic as the case, with laser-engraved symbols. They feel nice to the touch, with fingers neither slipping nor sticking. The only caveat is that over time the surface may develop a slight shine from heavy typing, but overall the keys leave a very good impression.

Additional features

The first thing worth pointing out is the RGB backlighting. It’s nothing unusual these days, but it’s still a nice addition for a slim, full-size wireless keyboard. You get seven colors with adjustable brightness and a few basic effects. Everything is controlled manually, without the need for extra software. The illumination is even across the keys with no noticeable dim spots. The only drawback is that only the English characters are backlit, while the Cyrillic ones remain dark.

It’s also worth noting the keyboard’s splash resistance. While “waterproof” might be overstating it – I wouldn’t trust it to survive a full cup of coffee – it does offer protection against minor spills. For this segment, that’s a reassuring feature.

Connecting Canyon HKB-W11

Connectivity is straightforward – you can connect via the 2.4 GHz USB adapter or Bluetooth. Notably, there are two separate Bluetooth channels, making it easy to switch between devices. No software installation is required; setup is automatic and very quick.

Conclusions

The Canyon HKB-W11 is a solid choice for anyone looking for a convenient and reliable peripheral without spending a fortune. It holds a charge well, charges quickly, and performs smoothly without lag or squeaking. You could even use it for casual gaming, though don’t expect the same feel as a dedicated gaming keyboard – it’s not designed for that kind of experience.

Canyon HKB-W11

Overall, the keyboard is worth considering, especially if you don’t have overly demanding requirements. It’s a decent choice for work, study, and everyday tasks. What’s more interesting, though, is that it’s hard to find anything in this price range with a similar set of features.
