I own a lot of stuff – and so, I am sure, do you. I love stuff and I am not ashamed of it. On my computer desk here, I have a set of speakers, some other speakers, a CD player, a disc drive, a DAC, a controller charger, and more. Do I need all of it? Probably not. But I like having it around. And organizing it all can be a hassle like no other, which is why my stuff often lies around in a state of permanent chaos. I look at it, promise myself I’ll get to cleaning it all up only to never do it. Thankfully, Nanoleaf came to the rescue: believe it or not, the company released MORE stuff, but this time, this stuff can help me organize some of my other stuff. It’s called Pegboard Desk Dock, and it looks… kinda great?

TABLE OF CONTENTS:
Design and overall experience
The idea is very simple: you know what a pegboard is, but what if it had RGB lights? And also, built-in charging ports (USB-A and two USB-C), and Nanoleaf desktop app compatibility for some cool effects (like the lava lamp, or real-time screen mirroring and music visualization). Thankfully, both Mac and PC are supported.
But yes, it’s very simple, but for the price ($59.99, which was lower before the tariffs hit), it brought me way more fun than I expected.
The design is interesting: there are two sides. One features the pegboard itself, allowing you to hang whatever you want, from headphones to controllers (to be honest, that’s about all). The other side has just 32 full-color LEDs. This side is purely for the aesthetics, which I appreciate: sometimes you just want pretty lights, and that’s okay. You can easily swap sides without creating a mess.

The build quality is great: the base is heavy, and not once did I feel uncertain if the Desk Dock could handle its task.
The fact that it IS a dock as well is fantastic: you can never have too many USB ports available. The one issue I have is that the power cable here is not detachable – you have to use the one that’s built in. I am sure no one likes undetachable cables, and every time I see one, it confuses me. But other than that, it’s all great: I can charge my controllers (it even fits my essential N64 controller!) and keyboards via the Dock, and keep the desk tidy (well, tidier).
I also wish there were more color options available – especially white, which would have felt better in my setup. But it’s barely a dealbreaker.

I also found that it feels right at home besides my bed as well, especially if I want some vibey lights in the evening. And since I always keep my headphones around, it serves a purpose there, too. Unfortunately, convincing my wife to let me keep it has been a continuing struggle.

Verdict
Nanoleaf Pegboard Desk Dock is a neat, capable little dock that does more than one thing, and it does everything right. Its price is a bit steep, so it is more of a luxury item – a gift for someone who already has everything (and now needs to sort that everything). I do wish the power cable was detachable and there were more color options, though. Maybe in the next iteration?
