Mercedes-AMG has started accepting orders for its new flagship electric vehicle, the AMG GT, which will be available in two versions at launch. The starting price of the base GT 55 model starts at €154700, while the high-performance version, the GT 63, will cost at least €196350. Such figures make the new AMG unattainable for ordinary electric car buyers, but it still costs about half as much as its elite competitor, the Ferrari Luce. But it offers better performance.

The high price is directly related to the complex and unique powertrain. Mercedes uses three innovative electric motors – one on the front axle and two separate motors on the rear axle. Together, these three units provide a peak power output of up to 860 kW, or 1169 hp. This power allows the rather heavy sedan to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, while the car reaches 200 km/h in 6.4 seconds.
However, rapid acceleration is only the tip of the iceberg. The electric car charges as fast as it drives. The high-performance battery supports a maximum charging power of 600 kW. When connected to a compatible high-speed charging station, the battery receives a charge in just 10 minutes, which is enough for a 460 km range. For a standard 10% to 80% charge cycle, drivers will have to wait 11 minutes.

The manufacturer has also added special features for fans of classic internal combustion engines. When the AMGFORCE S+ mode is activated, a digital audio system is launched that imitates the characteristic sound of the classic AMG V8. The car complements this sound with physical vibrations through the seats and steering wheel. The system even creates small pauses in the power delivery to recreate the shifting of the automatic transmission. The classic design of the digital instrument cluster completes the illusion.

In addition to mechanical enhancements, customers can personalize the look and sound of their premium electric vehicles.

The AMG Performance Seat Package High-End for €6,116.60 provides maximum lateral body support during high-speed cornering. The Burmester High-End Surround Sound audio system costs €4879 and offers 4D sound through 30 speakers with Dolby Atmos support. For €2975, you can add the SKY CONTROL panoramic roof, which has nine segments with variable dimming levels and an illuminated AMG logo. And the Exterior Lighting Package for €1,249.50 adds an illuminated emblem on the front, grille elements and LED stripes. Mercedes-AMG also offers two styling packages for changing the body decorative elements. The AMG Night Package I costs €1,130.50 and the AMG Night Package II costs €654.50. They replace the standard trim elements with dark chrome and gloss black details.

If you add all the available options to the AMG GT 63, the total cost rises to an impressive €247,688.70, although let’s be honest – these cars have never been aimed at economical buyers. However, if we compare the new model with the Ferrari Luce, which has a starting price of €550000, Mercedes ‘ offer looks much more favorable.
