The new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé electric super-sedan made its official debut in Affalterbach, demonstrating a radical rethinking of the high-performance electric vehicle segment. The four-door sports coupé, based on the advanced AMG.EA architecture, embodies the consistent transfer of racing technology from the CONCEPT AMG GT XX test prototype, which previously set 25 endurance records at the Nordschleife circuit.

The manufacturer is taking orders for two all-wheel drive versions: Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé 4MATIC+ and Mercedes-AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupé 4MATIC+, which will be priced at the level of their gasoline predecessors.

The main technical innovation is a power plant based on three ultra-compact axial electric motors developed by YASA – one motor is located on the front axle as a booster, and the other two are combined into a single unit on the rear axle. The top-of-the-line GT 63 delivers a peak power output of 860 kW (1,169 hp), which allows it to accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.1 seconds, 200 km/h in 6.4 seconds, and 300 km/h with the Driver’s Package. The GT 55 modification provides 600 kW (816 hp) of power. The front axle automatically disengages via a DCU disconnect at low loads to improve energy efficiency.

The high-voltage, 800-volt battery with 2,660 cylindrical cells in lightweight aluminum housings was developed to Formula 1 standards in conjunction with HPP’s Brixworth facility. The full-tab design and NCMA chemistry with silicon anode achieve an energy density of 298 Wh/kg and support an unprecedented charging capacity of up to 600 kW, which allows for a 460 km range at Alpitronic stations in just 10 minutes. Stable performance under sustained load is ensured by the innovative oil-based direct cooling of each cell, controlled by a central flow distribution module, the Central Coolant Hub, with a heat dissipation capacity of more than 20 kW.

The unique driving experience is shaped by intelligent electronics: the AMG RACE ENGINEER Core chipset controls the power systems, and with the help of three rotary knobs on the console, the driver can independently change the pedal response, angular speed and degree of slippage in nine levels. The AMGFORCE S+ program fully recreates the haptic sensation of accelerating the GT R’s gasoline V8, including interrupting traction during simulated gear changes and generating acoustic accompaniment based on 1,600 sound files. The Predictive Performance Manager optimizes track energy in Endurance or Hotlap modes, and the TRACK PACE app projects a virtual trajectory and braking points on the projection display.

The chassis is based on all-aluminum front arms and steel rear arms. The standard AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL air suspension with an 8.2-liter air reservoir is equipped with an interconnected hydraulic roll compensation system instead of classic stabilizers. The all-wheel-drive chassis tilts the rear wheels by up to 6 degrees in the opposite direction up to 80 km/h and up to 1 degree in one direction at high speeds. Braking is handled by a composite system with carbon-ceramic discs at the front and steel at the rear, which works in synergy with the powerful wheel motor regeneration.

The exterior is characterized by a 4 cm lowered silhouette, a concave illuminated front grille, signature star-shaped lenses and round turbine-style headlights. The aerodynamic balance is regulated by the AEROKINETICS system: two sliding plates under the underbody with a venturi effect, a multi-position active spoiler on the trunk lid and 9-stage vertical Airpanel louvers in the bumper that protect the wheel and center radiators. The specially optimized 21-inch wheels and tires add up to 44 km of additional WLTP range.

The digital cockpit under a single glass combines a 10.2-inch instrument panel and two 14-inch monitors for the driver and passenger. The MB.OS operating system has a Zero Layer interface, AMG Special branded display styles and built-in AI assistants based on ChatGPT and Google Gemini. The interior is equipped with lightweight seats with integrated headrests, a steering wheel with OLED touch selectors and an optional Burmester 4D audio system. The SKY CONTROL panoramic roof is made of laminated glass with LowE thermal insulation coating and supports segmental dimming and nighttime diode lighting in the form of racing stripes and brand emblems. Serial production of the electric vehicle will start in the summer of 2026 in Sindelfingen, and engine production will be concentrated at the Berlin-Marienfeld plant using unique patented laser technology.
