Recently, I received the new KKTICK Tank T5 rugged smartwatch for review, and I’m excited to share my impressions. Beyond basic features like tracking distance, steps, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and displaying notifications, the watch is advertised with built-in GPS, internal storage for offline maps and music, 3 ATM and IP69K water resistance, MIL-STD-810H certification, and the ability to take calls via its built-in microphone and speaker. The package also includes three different straps, and you can connect headphones directly to the watch, eliminating the need to carry a smartphone during workouts. Overall, it looks ambitious – especially at an affordable price point of around $120. But how does it perform in practice? Let’s take a closer look.

Price
At a regular price of $150 or €130, the Tank T5 can be purchased on the official website for $120 / €103. However, if you buy the smartwatch before October 30, you can save big with a 50% discount – just $60 – by entering the official coupon code: G5DQ3Q7ZBRZH.
Considering both the price and features, the Tank T5 positions itself as a mid-to-upper-end budget device (or even an entry-level mid-range option). It offers a fairly wide range of functions, which I’ll cover throughout this review, all while maintaining a balanced cost. Let’s see what this newcomer is capable of.
Package contents

The Tank T5 smartwatch comes in a sleek black box. Inside, you’ll find a nice assortment: the watch itself, accompanying documentation, a charging dongle, and – in the review version – three interchangeable straps. The default strap is a classic black silicone with perforations along its length. The second strap is similar but in bright orange. The third is a metal bracelet, styled like a traditional watch band, which gives the smartwatch a more premium and polished appearance.
The strap “wardrobe” included with the KKTICK Tank T5 is a really nice feature, as it lets you adapt the watch to almost any outfit. The black silicone strap works well for everyday use, the metal bracelet suits a more formal or business look, and the orange strap is perfect for standing out in casual or informal settings.

What KKTICK Tank T5 can do
The KKTICK Tank T5 offers a solid feature set for modern users and should particularly appeal to outdoor sports enthusiasts and hikers. There’s little need to dwell on basic functionality – step counting, general activity tracking, heart rate and blood oxygen monitoring, sleep quality, weather updates, notifications, and incoming call alerts – since by 2025, these are standard on virtually every fitness tracker and smartwatch. Instead, it makes more sense to focus on the watch’s standout features.

The first thing that stands out is the sheer number of supported sports modes. The selection is impressively diverse – from yoga and aerobics to billiards, water polo, and ice skating. There are over 100 modes, covering both outdoor activities and those performed in gyms, sports halls, or swimming pools. Data from each session is collected in the companion app, allowing users to track effectiveness, monitor progress, and adjust their routines for better results. Outdoor fitness enthusiasts – whether hiking, walking, running, or cycling – will also appreciate the built-in GPS, which provides accurate route tracking and distance measurement.
The KKTICK Tank T5 also has a bunch of additional features. Among them:
- video training right on the screen (several options are currently available in this format)
- compass
- barometer
- calculator
- voice recorder
- alarm clock
- calendar
- breathing exercises mode
- menstrual cycle tracking
- voice assistant
- ability to set wallpapers from the store or add your own watch faces via the app
- noise meter
- phone search function.

Of course, the watch lets you control your smartphone’s camera and music playback. It also includes simple games and one feature I haven’t seen in other models – a built-in flashlight. Unlike using the screen as a light source, this is a dedicated, small flashlight located on the top edge of the case. It can come in handy not just on multi-day hikes or camping trips, but also for everyday situations at home.
Although the Tank T5 doesn’t allow full interaction with notifications beyond reading and dismissing them, it does support making and receiving calls when connected to a smartphone. You can even enable a feature to automatically “answer” when raising your wrist. Both the microphone and speaker deliver good quality – indoors, the sound is clear in both directions, and the person on the other end may not even realize you’re speaking through the watch rather than your phone. On noisy streets, however, voice clarity can drop since there’s no active noise-cancellation system. Still, I was pleasantly impressed by the overall quality of the microphone and speaker.

Additionally, the smartwatch comes with 4 GB of internal storage, allowing you to load not only offline maps and custom watch faces but also music. This means you can leave your smartphone at home for a morning run – just connect Bluetooth headphones to the watch and enjoy your favorite tracks while tracking all key metrics.
Design and materials
The KKTICK Tank T5 essentially looks like a sports watch – fairly bulky, with decorative elements that give it a somewhat rugged, masculine appearance. Exact dimensions aren’t specified, but in my view, it feels even larger than typical “big” 46mm models. While the watch is marketed as unisex, its design leans more toward a masculine aesthetic. This is evident when browsing the watch face catalog – why are “women’s” faces still expected to be floral or pink? – and also noticeable in features like the cycle tracking option.

The case combines a metal base with plastic components and protective Corning Gorilla Glass. As mentioned earlier, the package includes three straps – two silicone and one metal. They’re easy to swap thanks to a standard 24mm watch-style clasp, making it simple to expand your strap collection over time.

Most of the Tank T5’s front is occupied by a 1.43-inch touchscreen. It’s surrounded by a decorative bezel, and an additional outer frame features 12 notches, providing extra protection for the display.
On the right side, there are two functional buttons – one of which is a rotating crown for easier menu scrolling – and a decorative metal element labeled “GPS” in blue. At first, I assumed it served a functional purpose, but it’s purely ornamental. Beneath the “GPS” label, you’ll find a small hole for the microphone.

On the opposite side, there’s a neatly integrated speaker grille.

The bottom edge of the watch is unremarkable, but the top edge features a small, semi-transparent rectangular panel that’s easy to miss at first glance. This is the built-in flashlight, and it’s quite bright. It can easily illuminate a path or an object in the dark. Additionally, it supports both steady light and blinking modes, so it can also be used as a signaling beacon.

Flipping the watch over reveals a sensor window for measuring heart rate and blood oxygen levels, along with four metal charging contacts. There’s also a small amount of technical marking around the sensor window.

The Tank T5’s durability is impressive, with IP69K and 3 ATM water resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H certification. According to the official site, the watch has passed over 15 extreme tests, maintaining functionality under low and high temperatures, sudden temperature changes, drops, vibrations, exposure to saltwater, and more. Reliability doesn’t appear to be an issue with this model.

KKTICK Tank T5 Display
The Tank T5 features a high-quality 1.43-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 466×466 pixels. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, though the specific generation isn’t specified. Given the watch’s resistance to extreme conditions, including drops, durability shouldn’t be a concern.

The display offers five brightness levels, ranging from 0 to 4, which can be easily adjusted from the control panel. Additional settings include Always-On display, screen timeout, font size, and the option to disable the startup animation when powering on the watch.

The Tank T5 display truly stands out, comparable to more expensive models. Thanks to the OLED technology and true blacks, it offers excellent contrast, making text very easy to read. Viewing angles are wide, and the brightness is more than sufficient for sunny outdoor use. Videos – including watch faces, workout clips, and short tutorials – look great, and the touchscreen is highly responsive, providing smooth and accurate control.
Interface and control
Navigation on the Tank T5 is handled through both the touchscreen and the side buttons. The top button functions as a “crown” that can be rotated, making it easy to scroll through menus. It also allows quick switching of watch faces when turned on the home screen. In general, this button provides access to the main menu and acts as a “back” function, which can also be triggered by swiping right on the screen. The lower button offers one-touch access to workout modes.
One feature the Tank T5 lacks is a dedicated “Home” button. Sometimes, when you dive deep into the settings, you have to go back step by step, which can be a bit inconvenient – but it’s not a dealbreaker.

The interface itself is very similar to what you find on other smartwatches. Swiping down from the top brings up the “control center,” where you can check connection status and battery level, access settings, adjust brightness, turn on “Do Not Disturb” or power-saving mode, and add other quick-access functions. For example, you can quickly connect headphones, start a timer, or turn on the flashlight – keeping the most-used features always within reach.

Swiping in the opposite direction (from bottom to top) opens the notifications list. You can read and clear notifications, but replying or performing any other actions directly from the watch isn’t possible.

Swiping left or right lets you navigate between functional screens – overall activity, heart rate, weather widget, music control, and more. You can also add or remove screens, such as SpO₂ monitoring, sleep tracking, voice assistant, contacts, breathing exercises, and others.
Overall, if you’ve used smartwatches before, navigating the KKTICK Tank T5 will feel familiar. Even if it’s your first smartwatch, the interface is logical and easy to understand. The only downside is the Ukrainian translation – it’s so literal and automated that some menu items are misleading. For example, “Music Mode” becomes “Метод гри.” It’s better to rely on the icons or switch to the English version, which is what I did.
Wearjoy app
To access detailed settings, as well as statistics on workouts, overall activity, and health tracking, the companion app is essential. For the KKTICK Tank T5, this app is Wearjoy. Interestingly, the QR code in the manual doesn’t lead to the app store but to an APK download – a bit unusual. If that’s not your preferred method (as it isn’t mine – I prefer verified apps over APKs), you can also find it directly on Google Play and App Store.
I wouldn’t say that using Wearjoy is entirely straightforward. While the interface seems logical and similar to other apps, I initially had trouble connecting to the watch. Sometimes the verification code didn’t arrive on time via email during registration, and after creating the account, the app couldn’t connect to the device – neither through search nor the QR code. A simple fix was just restarting the watch after account creation, and then everything worked perfectly.
Wearjoy offers a range of functions organized into four main categories. The first category tracks daily activity, including steps, calories burned, and distance covered, as well as workouts, heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep quality, menstrual cycle, and weight. Unnecessary metrics can be hidden if desired.
Next is a tab featuring a map for outdoor workouts, including running, walking, cycling, and hiking.

The third section focuses on the device itself. It shows connection status and remaining battery (similar to the watch’s quick settings), permissions for notifications and calls, and reminders to move or drink water. It also includes the watch face menu – there are many options, not counting the ability to create custom faces – access to favorite workouts, and additional features. These extra functions include transferring images and maps to the KKTICK Tank T5, finding the watch, controlling the camera, accessing frequent contacts and the alarm, configuring gestures, selecting the heart rate measurement mode, enabling “Do Not Disturb,” and updating the firmware.
The final tab is for account management and related settings. Here, users can set activity goals (and earn “badges” for completing them), choose units of measurement, configure maps, manage permissions, and more.
Overall, the app is fairly functional, but connection issues can occur. The connection itself is generally stable throughout the day, with no random dropouts. However, problems sometimes arise when reconnecting after a period of disconnection – for example, if the watch disconnects in the evening and you try to reconnect the next morning. The smartphone can detect and connect to the device directly without issues, but the app may fail to recognize it. I tried multiple reconnection methods, including search, QR code, removing the watch entirely, and restarting it several times. None of these worked. In the end, only restarting the smartphone allowed the app to pair with the watch again, and that worked simply through the in-app search.

It’s likely that the issue arose after a firmware update. The first time I connected the watch to my phone, an update was immediately applied. It’s reasonable to expect that future updates will address this, allowing the connection to work automatically, as is typical with similar devices.

Autonomy
Another area where Tank T5 doesn’t raise concerns is battery life. It has an 860 mAh battery, which can last up to 25 days under typical use and up to 100 days in standby mode. Naturally, actual battery life depends on usage patterns and intensity. Enabling Always-On display, frequent GPS use, or continuous heart rate monitoring will reduce the runtime compared to the stated figures. For reference, the official site provides the following breakdown:

The watch charges via the included magnetic cradle, taking up to three hours for a full charge.
Conclusions and competitors
Overall, the KKTICK Tank T5 proves to be a solid option among affordable, reliable smartwatches for both daily use and an active lifestyle. It offers strong protection, including IP69K and MIL-STD-810H certifications, long battery life, a wide range of useful features, three straps in the box, and a high-quality AMOLED display. The watch also supports over 100 workout modes, allows call handling, and lets you listen to music directly from the watch, making it possible to leave your phone behind during a morning run.
The main drawback is the software. The issue isn’t just language support – it can also require extra effort to reconnect the watch at times. This may have been an isolated experience, but hopefully, future updates will address these issues.

Looking at the segment of smartwatches with quality OLED screens, GPS, MIL-STD-810H compliance, and call support, the Tank T5 faces relatively few competitors. This is especially true in the budget range, where brands like OnePlus or OPPO are often twice as expensive, and Garmin models are generally well beyond this price point. This positions KKTICK favorably in the market, though the segment isn’t entirely without competition.
In the budget-friendly segment of smartwatches featuring a quality OLED display, GPS, MIL-STD-810H compliance, and call support, the KKTICK Tank T5 faces limited competition. Brands like OnePlus and OPPO offer similar features but at approximately double the price, excluding Garmin models, which are generally more expensive. This positions KKTICK favorably in the market. However, the segment isn’t entirely without competition.
For instance, the Black Shark GS3, is a more affordable alternative, priced similarly to the discounted Tank T5 (around $70). It shares a similar design and most specifications but features a plastic body instead of metal and has a lower battery capacity (400 mAh, up to 21 days of use).
At full price, the Tank T5 is comparable to the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra. This watch offers advanced features, including Wi-Fi 4 (2.4 GHz), NFC, a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, 1 GB RAM, and 8 GB storage. Notably, it boasts a dual-layer display combining AMOLED and FSTN technology, the latter being used to reduce power consumption. This dual-display approach is particularly intriguing.
