The extraction shooter ARC Raiders, which was released last year and quickly gained popularity, has been receiving regular content updates since its release. Developers from Embark Studios released new maps, enemies, events, and added various game features almost every month. However, the studio has now officially announced a change in the game’s support model.
Embark Studios is abandoning its monthly update schedule and is moving to releasing major updates twice a year. This means that major updates that will significantly change the gameplay and user experience will be released approximately every six months.
The next major update is scheduled for October. It is called Frozen Trail and is already positioned as the largest content release for the game. Along with it, the shooter will have a completely new region to explore, an improved skill tree, unique enemies, and other interesting features.
Among the key features of Frozen Trail, the developers have identified the largest map in the game’s history, located in the Rust Belt region. The new area will have a multi-level design and contain new secrets to explore. The update will also include the largest operation in the history of ARC Raiders. The game will feature new types of ARC enemies with unique designs and behaviors that will require players to develop new strategies and approaches to combat.

Embark Studios also confirmed new progression systems. According to the developers, many players have already maxed out Raider Den and reached the limit of Skill Points. Therefore, Frozen Trail will add new goals and more opportunities for character development. Special attention is paid to the storyline component. Players will have the opportunity to learn more about the origin of ARCs and gradually uncover the secret of these creatures. In addition, the update will include an improved skill tree, new weapons, items, tools, cosmetic elements, etc.
“This is an ambitious update that will take time to get right. In order to realize this concept and focus our efforts, we will be releasing content updates twice a year from now on,” the studio said. – “However, you can still expect regular operational updates regarding bug fixes, balancing, store updates, and more.

In its blog post, Embark Studios said that it sees ARC Raiders as a project that must constantly expand and evolve. The new update schedule will allow for more thoughtful updates in which the gameplay, progression system, story, and game world itself will develop simultaneously.
At the same time, the studio is forming a separate team to develop a service to support the game. It will deal with smaller changes, events, bug fixes, and store updates, while the main team will focus on preparing Frozen Trail for the October release on PC and consoles.
