Baldur’s Gate 3 Player Hit With Year-Long Xbox Ban for One Cutscene

-

A Baldur’s Gate 3 player going by the name Daddy-Vegas received a one-year suspension from Xbox after game recordings featuring nudity were automatically uploaded to Microsoft servers. While Baldur’s Gate 3 allows players to include or exclude explicit elements like nudity, Xbox policies prohibit sharing such content on the platform.

Unaware of this policy disconnect, Daddy-Vegas had clips from their single-player experience recorded and shared by the Xbox system. Microsoft then enforced a one-year ban. Daddy-Vegas claims they never intended for the private recordings to be publicly shared, but since Xbox uploads screenshots and videos automatically, they were faced with a massive surprise. Note that there is an option to disable automatic uploads, but most leave it on by default.

Daddy-Vegas is appealing the suspension, hoping Microsoft will reconsider the ban length given the circumstances. It’s important to note that it’s not the first time it happened. Some other games (Attack on Titan being one of them) prompted Microsoft to ban users for their uploads.
